The diagnosis

So we took Wyatt to our doctor yesterday. Kelly was supposed to come in, but of course when they called our name he was out chasing Ethan in the hall and didn't come in to find us. So I took Wyatt in. My doctor was confused and had a few ideas but wasn't 100% so she wanted to get a second opinion from a pediatrician. She managed to get us in to see a pediatrician today, which was great. My doctor sent us down for one more X-ray just to rule out pnemonia.

Kelly had to take the Van into the Honda dealership this morning, so he took Ethan and I took Wyatt in Molly to the pediatrician. We had had a really bad night the last night. Wyatt woke up coughing more than normal and really trying to catch his breath and having a hard time eating. He had been wheezy all day. We got into the doctors office, the doctor put his stethescope onto Wyatt's chest and almost immediately said "He has Asthma". This had been suggested to me a few times but I was still a little shocked to hear the doctor say that. He asked if there was any asthma in the family. I said no (but I have now learned that my Dad and Granny both had asthma). The doctor said his lungs sounded really bad. He told me that many children grow out of it in a few years, some lasts for 10 and some asthma stays for life. He also told me that it was unusal for a baby this young to have it.

He prescribed me two puffers. The first we take every four hours (for four days then when needed). This just helps to open Wyatt's lungs up and make it easier for him to breath. This puffer only last about 3-4 four hours. The second is a steriod which we take twice a day. We are scheduled to go back in two months to see if there are any improvements. He told me I really have to watch Wyatt and if he seems to be struggling to breath I need to take him to the emergency room immediately.

They gave us one dose while we were at the doctors office, Kelly and I both noticed a difference immediately. Wyatt actaully took a nap this afternoon, and was in the best mood we have seen him in since birth. Wyatt responds really well to having his nose covered with a mask (I thought he would scream and shout) but he just breaths it all in (almost like he knows it is helping him).

Ethan came down the stairs this afternoon while I was giving Wyatt his medicine and started screaming. I guess he really doesn't like the look of the whole aparatus we use to administer it.
I feel very relieved to have finally got some concrete answers as to what has been going on with my little guy. I think the word asthma scares me a little and I never would have expected my son to have asthma. I did ask my doctor about allergies and he assured me that is wasn't due to any allergy. I also asked about the cat and he didn't seem to worried about the cat. He did say that cigarette smoke was really bad for a person with asthma. Obviously Kelly and I don't smoke and we really aren't around many people who do smoke but I am going to be very careful about who Wyatt is with, if they even have the smell of cigarettes on their clothes I don't want Wyatt around them. My mom and I also did some research on asthma and found a few things that can irritate a person with asthma.
Mold is one, but we live in a brand new house, I doubt there is mold in the house. Dust, we dust fairly regularly but I will be dusting a little more often, if not daily now. And finally pet dander. Even though the doctor didn't seem worried about the cat I plan to keep Wyatt's bedroom door closed at all times, vaccuum everything daily. I think I may also take Fabian to my parents house in the summer (if he is still having symtpoms) and see if there is any difference not having Fabian around.

Things

Wyatt and I at Sabriel's birthday party. He had a 'blowout', thus why he is in his jammies! He had no objection to the hat though. Ethan would have no part of the party hat!
All the babies at the party.

Wyatt and Ava!

Happy wyatt!

Ethan LOVING his new train and train table!

Well Wyatt is sick.... AGAIN. His death cough has returned. Probably three days ago, and has progressivly gotten worse. Now is he coughing all day and night, and usually waking himself up because it hurts to cough so much. This afternoon it has gotten so bad that he won't even eat. I'm fairly certain that his throat hurts. But there is nothing that Kelly and I can do to calm him. He is just screaming. Tears rolling out of his eyes and streams of snot rolling into his mouth. His cries are interupted with horrific and painful coughing. So back to the doctor we go this afternoon. I am bringing Kelly with me in hopes that having him there will help get some more answers. (Not totally sure of the logic behind that, but i'm hoping he will be more strict with the doctor). Anyways so in Wyatt's 4.5 month life he has been sick for about 4 of those months.

On a completely unrelated note I would like to comment on something that drives me COMPETELY mental (even though it is just a small issue). The issue is DRIVE- Thru etiquette. Our drive-thru has two lanes and a big sign that says 'Please Alternate'. Makes sense. But when I chose a line and I get to the front faster than the person beside me (who had got there before me). I feel that since he was there first that he should go ahead of me, so I let him in. The problem is that not all people do this, take for example this morning. I got there before this dirtbag beside me, but he was in the lane that got to the front the fastest so I guess he took the "Please Alternate" sign to mean 'I chose the faster line, you suck, and i'm going to take my place in the line'. So what happens in this case? I believe that is should be first come first serve, even though it says 'please alternate', don't you think that the people who got there first should get to go first. I guess everyone doesn't think that way. Thoughts?

Today the temperature is ABOVE zero for the first time in... MONTHS. I am hoping that it will stay above zero long enough to get rid of some of the snow that has accumulated. I would REALLY like to get outside and go for some walks and have the kids run around and burn off some of this 'winter' energy.

Kijiji

Trying to keep Wyatt happy...

We can`t get Ethan to smile for pictures so we tell him to `Show us your teeth``. He will only show us his bottom teeth and this is how it turns out!

Wyatt in the Jumparoo, he loves it, doesn`t really jump but it sways, moves and makes music!

WELL not too much going on here, we have been busy busy busy and of course trying to get as much time as we can in with Kelly while he is home. The kids having been getting up around 7:30 lately which really doesn't sit well with Kelly. Kelly is not the friendlest person in the world when he has to get out of bed before 10. I think he has been drinking at least three coffees a day. Yesterday was a tough day for him, both Wyatt and Ethan had three giant poops. Wyatt's were all breaches and required bathes. Ethan was really clingy to Kelly and very whiney and Wyatt was his usual self (extremely fussy). Over dinner, Wyatt was screaming and Ethan pretty much threw his entire meal on the floor. Kelly was kind of losing his cool.... In his words... "I didn't sign up for this, I signed up for cuddles and playtime".... Followed by... "I need a break".... Pffft... a break Kelly? YOu have never been with the two kids EVER by yourself.... I'll give you a break when I get a break! Anyways it was somewhat satisfying watching Kelly freaking out and MAYBE realizing just a small tidbit of my everyday! Ha Ha...

So lets see. I'm sick and SO INCREDIBLY sore from the two TRX workouts I`ve done in the past two days, I can seriously hardly move. Apparently i`m not doing it enough. Anyways Wyatt is sick AGAIN. His cough went away for all of two weeks and it is now back. Coughing all night again, I`m going to try to book him in with the doctors this morning. I`m going to send him with Kelly because Kelly is just so livid that they won`t do anything for him, I figure he can get some answers out of them. I mean come on, there has got to be something eles going on, he has been sick and coughing for three out of the four months of his life! Virginia on the phone last night said something which really made me laugh but actually could be the problem. SHe said it would be funny if Wyatt was allergic to the cat. Funny in that we have spent about $4500 on the dang cat since we got him and to have Wyatt be allergic to him now would just be the icing on the cake. So that is something that we can ask the doctor about!

I`ve been selling things on KIJIJI, things that we are no longer using. I`m going in the swap meet in April but I thought I would give kijiji a shot at a few things before that. So far i`ve only sold one thing. I sold the exersaucer (and yes I realize I just bought it but Wyatt is far more into the jumperoo). Anyways I bought it for about $23 and sold it for $30. Kelly was very impressed. His new idea for my life career is to go to all the Salvation army`s and buy cheap toys and sell them for more on Kjiji, now how fun does that sound... not so much. WE also finally have someone coming to look at the car on Sunday, but after Kelly got off the phone with them Kelly told me that he didn`t really want to sell the car, he just hadn`t told me that.... So I might just take Molly off Kijiji.

I`m on week four of my budget, and each week I have been able to SAVE money. I`m very impressed with myself. Kelly said he didn`t think I would be able to do it, so it has been my mission to prove him wrong. Every Tuesday I head to the bank and take out $350. This is to last me the week and is to include food, gas, diapers, everything you can think of. It has really made me think about where I spend my money (although Tim Horton`s fits into my budget nicely). I realize that $350 is actaully a fairly large amount of money for the week but last week I JUST made if. On the weeks that I don`t spend it all I put it into a jar to save for things (ie. Ethan`s birthday present, a new carseat for Wyatt, Flgihts to Courtenay for Kelly). I have an envelope that I put money in if I use my credit card (I use my credit car at the gas station so I don`t need to leave the kids in the car and go pay and I also buy a few things online). Anyways I`m impressed with myself that I can do it, and I think that when Kelly gets his next mastercard bill he will be even happier with me!!

I`m sure I could think of more things to ramble on about except I hear Wyatt waking up and I`m sure Kelly will sleep right through it (even though I turned the monitor on full blast, Kelly can sleep through anything).

Mommylicious

We had a fantastic day yesterday! We were up early (these seems to be a new thing) but I actaully don't mind it, there are lots of things happening in the morning and it is kind of a great feeling being up and out of the house by 9. I like it!
Anyways we had planned to go into this Mommylicious Trade Show in the city. We did a quick Tim Horton's stop and we were on our way. I had Ethan in the single stroller and Wyatt in the Baby Bjorn (which he LOVED, he was the happiest guy ever). I didn't expect to buy anything much at the trade show, but I wanted to go to check things out. There was some pretty great stuff. I ended up buying Wyatt a really nice blanket. He doesn't have a very special blanket yet (and the ones he did have Ethan has stolen). SO I found a blanket that is just adorable and it isn't the kind of fabric that Ethan lvoes soI don't think he will steal it. They also had these really cute 'tag blankets'. I hummed and hawed about buying one, but in the end I decided that my mom could probably make them for much cheaper. So I've put her to work!
They had a big inflatable bouncer for the kids to jump in. Ethan wanted to go in so badly, he would make it up the big inflatable stairs and all the way to the door and stop. He wanted to go in so badly but was just too scared. So he watched the kids jump for awhile then climbed back into his stroller.
There was a lady there selling baby slings and carriers. Myself and a lady behind me walked by her with our baby bjorns and she looked at us both and said "When your Baby Bjorns get uncomfortable I can fit you with a much more comfortable carrier". Honeslty I looked at her and said "I Love my Baby Bjorn". Talk about terrible business woman. She pretty much was saying to us that the baby bjorn (which we both had chosen) was junk and her product was better. At this point I could careless if her silly carriers are better I will never buy one and I really do love my baby bjorn.
Anyways we went to Red Robin for lunch. I ordered a grilled chicken burger, it came, all it was, was a hunk of chicken on a bun. No mayo, mustard (or ANYTHING). I asked for all of the condiments and the waitress seemed annoying that I wanted them? Really? Do you think I want to eat a plain burger with no taste? Anyways I had packed Ethan a lunch but he polished off my fries and half of Caleb's grilled cheese as well.
Ethan slept on the way home, which of course was very frusterating for me, I tried to make the move from the car to his crib, it didn't work but I left him in his crib just to see if he would fall back to sleep. No such luck. It was a really relaxing afternoon, instead of just trying to get the entire house cleaned Ethan and I did crafts and played together!
We did baths and bed, then I headed out to the garage to do all the garbage and recycling and shovel the driveway. Came in to watch Amazing Race and headed to bed!
We have already been to Postive Discipline this morning. So far I'm really enjoying the class. I think I'm doing a pretty good job with my discipline but I know you can never knwo too much. This class really just helps remind me of the things i should be doing. I will be the first to admit that sometimes I lose my cool.

Be Quiet Wyatt

Please don't let all these 'happy, smiley' pictures of Wyatt decieve you. These 'happy, smiley' moments make up about 2% of our day, the other 98% are made up of 58% sleeping and 40% 'death/make you want to pull all your hair out' screaming. Usually Wyatt gets going around 4:40pm. He goes from sitting quietly in his bouncy chair to full out death scream in a matter of seconds. What does he want? Good question! He has just been fed, he has toys he has burped, he isn't tierd... so what is it? I know he wants to be held but I'm trying to make dinner for Ethan and myself, so picking Wyatt up isn't an option. Not to mention if Wyatt isn't in the carseat I am holding him. Give me a freakin break. So for the past four nights dinner has been made to the sound of the death cry. Today I got so annoyed with the cry that I moved him up into his bed because just the sound of it stressed me out. My doctor told me that one of her two kids never stopped screaming and at some points she would just put the screamer in his crib and shut the door in order to give the other child a little bit of attention. Anyways this morning both Ethan and Wyatt woke up at the ridiculously early hour of 6:30. I wasn't having any part in this. I have a monitor for both kids. I just turned them both off and went back to sleep. They must have done the same because I woke up at 8:30 to silence! It is right now 3:53 in the morning. I just fed Wyatt for half an hour at 1:30, he woke up again at 3:20. Fed him for 30 minutes and he is currently laying in his crib crying. He falls asleep and the second I put him down he wakes up again. ARGGG.... If only my room was farther away. Even with the monitor off I can't sleep. If this is this one tooth coming in, it better start coming in a little fast because i'm about to loose my mind.

That is all.

Diapers,Solid Food, Great Deals, Library and Train Table

Yummy Mommy! Thanks for the yummy Brown Rice Cereal!
Just like his Big Brother, real food is very popular with Wyatt.

Ethan and Wyatt playing together, sort of....

It is a little blurry, but here is Wyatt in his exersaucer, I think I got a good 30 minutes from him on this day!

Wyatt in the Bumbo, he doesn't love it... but I will keep trying...

Big Smiles!

That is a sour face!

Diapers
I have been having the toughest time trying to find a diaper that works for Wyatt. We have been having blowout after blowout and I just can find a good one. He grew out of size 1-2 Huggies from Costco. I moved him right into size 3, no good, so I tried size 2 Huggies Swaddlers. I mean we are just ruining perfectly good clothing with this poop. The only one that has really worked well are the free diapers that they give out at Ikea. I THINK they are from Walmart so i'm going to try the cheap walmart brand and see if we can have some 'blowout free' days!
Solid Foods
I was bored the other day and decided to try Wyatt on solid foods, we started out with a very runny organic brown rice ceral. He LOVED it, stuffed it in his mouth in the typical Rogers boys way. (in our family anyways). So we have been doing it for the past three days, it makes life more fun for me. It doesn't change his mood at all, doesn't fill him up anymore than usual, he is still extremely fussy. He screams like he is getting killed everytime even the smallest thing is wrong. He is also getting a tooth, which is also another reason he is somewhat unbearable during the day.
Great Deals
So we met Aunty Michelle and Cohan at the mall yesterday, we didn't have too much to shop for but it is just a fun place to meet and have our bubble tea! I wanted to get some party decorations for Ethan's birthday party from the party store. TOTAL rip off central, I didn't end up getting anything. We were walking by Gymboree and usually i don't bother going in there because it is very expensive and my double stroller doesn't really fit into their cave-like store. Anyways we went in, All of their clearance items were an extra 25% off. I bought Ethan four shirts and a pair of jeans all for only $27. Very proud of myself. I also bought Ethan a birthday gift. It is a recordable book. So Kelly and I read it and then he can hear our voices any time he wants. Particularly good for Kelly when he is away!
Library
So we are doing Ethan's 2nd birthday party at the library. It is $100 bucks, they provide decorations, goodie bags and they do one hour of games, songs, books and face painting, then you get the party room for the next hour for cake/presents etc. Anyways so I went in just to pay and to check things out. They have a really cute kids area, of course Wyatt was screaming his brains out and Ethan was off. It was so quiet in there and he was running up and down all the isles yelling because he liked the sound of his voice while he was running. I was so stressed out. WE got out of there as quickly as we could. I am looking forward to the birthday party though!
Train Table
I have been thinking about buying Ethan a train table for awhile. Anyways I was just checking thing out on Kijiji and found one for 40s in Stony Plain. So this morning we headed out to pick it up. It isn't a top of the line train table but it has two drawers in it and is perfect! I put the back seats down in the van and there was PLENTY of room for it (couldn't have done that in an SUV). So I think I will buy him one train set for his birthday with tracks, he will LOVE it! It is sitting in the garage right now, i'm sure he won't see it in there!

Rhonda the Honda

Rhonda the Honda
The kids in the new van!

This is Ethan's cupboard, he hoards everything he owns into it.

Wyatt...

Hanging out on the couch with my little guys!

Hmmm... I wonder where Wyatt gets his rosie cheeks from. They aren't always like this, but they are especially red in this photo.

Ethan in his new booster seat at the table. It is really nice having everyone at the table! We had to get the booster seat because Wyatt will move into the highchair shortly!

Ethan won't even go near the highchair anymore, he must sit in his booster seat. He loves it!

Today Kelly made my day, we have been looking for a vehicle for quite sometime now, I hadn't made my mind up as to whether I wanted a minivan or an extended SUV. I was actually completely against the minivan option until we went and looked at one on Saturday. SO much room and so family friendly. We just looked at the van on Saturday then came home to think about it. On Monday morning Kelly found a Pathfinder for the same price as the van we had just looked at. I weighed my two options and decided that the minivan was the way to go! SO happy with my decision. As much as I LOVE the pathfinder it just didn't work for us, the carseats can't fit in the back row, nor is the back row very comfortable for adults, and if the back row is up there is no trunk room. Not to mention that I had a tough time lifting my double Bob into the trunk of my parents Pathfinder over Christmas. The Van however, I can put carseats in both the middle and the back row, and adults can sit comfortably in the back row. My stroller will fit perfectly with the back seats up.

Kelly has to leave this afternoon, so he basically walked into the Honda dealership, found an employee, said to them "I want to buy that Van, for this price and I need to do it before 2 this afternoon". They were awesome (well I wasn't there, I was dealing with the kids). But what I do know is that they did absolutely everything for us and we were out of there by 1:30.

I was robbed of my nap this afternoon (Ethan slept in the car) but Kelly watched the kids while I went and installed the carseats. I left the back row up (it seats THREE). The middle row is a bench that seats three but the middle of the bench comes out to make two bucket seats. So I took the middle seat out of the second row and had my two bucket seats for the carseats. You can push one of the bucket seat over so it is right beside the other (this make it easier to get into the back row). So I did that and put the carseats in! LOVE it!

After Kelly left we took the van out for a spin. It was awesome, zooms up the hill like nothing, I was able to put all of my groceries in the back trunk area, I don't need to climb up onto anything to put the kids in their seats and best of all is the DOORS OPEN all by themselves!!

Of course I tried the cupholder in the frontseats. Fits a steeped tea just perfectly :)
It has been incredbly cold here lately, minus 42 last night with the windchill. I just spent the last hour outside shovelling the driveway and making room for Rhonda in the garage, unfortuntaley Molly the Mazda won't start for me because she hasn't been plugged in, so I will have to wait until tomorrow to put Rhonda in the garage.

On a completely unrelated note, I would like to wish Wyatt a very happy 4 month birthday. There isn't a 29th of February this year so we are just pretending that today is the day! Can't believe it has already been four months!
