Ethan loves Dad

Wyatt relaxing with Dad.
Ethan's new haircut.

So I'm a softy, Ethan plays with this pushy thing EVERY time we go to Ikea, Ethan saw it on the shelf and I couldn't say no.

Wyatt

Wyatt making a rude gesture to the camera.

Ethan loves cookies!!

The aftermath of the cookie eating.

Making a second batch of cookies.

Woops, left them in just 20 minutes too long.

Didn't want to show his face after burning the cookies.....

Well as I suspected Kelly's plane was late on Friday night but an entire hour. We of course didn't know that when we got there so we were at the airport for probably two hours. But it wasn't too bad, and when Dad finally arrived Ethan was the happiest little boy.
Ever since their reunion at the airport I have been quickly forgotten and Dad is the hero of the house. Ethan won't do ANYTHING unless Dad is doing it with him... Baths, teeth, bed, coat etc. Which is fine by me, less work for me but i'm just a little worried about the transition when Kelly leaves again. Oh well I guess we will see how it goes.
We had a very quiet day yesterday, we only left the house once, we went and got Ethan's hair cut. His hair was getting pretty shaggy so it was time for a cut. I sat in the truck with Wyatt and sent Kelly and Ethan in. Next thing I knew I looked up and saw them walking back to the door. Ethan was crying (he hates seeing Ethan cry). I jumped out of the truck, plunked Ethan on the chair, Kelly sat with him and he had his hair cut. He cried the entire time, Kelly was embarassed I could tell. He gave the lady an 8 dollar tip on a 12 dollar haircut. As far as I'm concerned, that is there job, there were a few children waiting behind us. Deal with the crying.... I guess people without children don't like screaming kids. Ethan's hair isn't as short as I would have liked it but is good enough for awhile. Ethan stopped crying as soon as we walked out the door, the lady gave him a lollipop and he was happy. The lolipop freaked me out a little, Ethan has never had one before so he didn't know how to eat it, there was slobber everwhere, I was worried he was going to choke on it. But he was quiet so...
Ethan slept for hours yesterday, so did Wyatt. We just had a relaxing evening in fron to fthe TV, made some cookies and pretty much went to bed at like 9:30.
This morning we were up and out the door for Nolan's Cookie Monster Themed birthday. Ethan had a great time, Maureen did such a great job. Ethan is zonked right out, Wyatt is spending some time with Kelly, I just heard him destroy his diaper and Kelly shot up to change him before the breach. I am sitting here laughing to myself :)

Airport Pickup

We have had a really great two days. The kids have been really well behaved (well for the most part, I did have one moment of craziness... please read on). Yesterday I got up super early, we were watching Caleb for a few hours. So he was dropped off at 7:15.... I think my kids just felt his presense because they both work up. Caleb brought his favorite movie 'Cars' over, so I popped that in the DVD player. Caleb sat on the couch with his eyes glued to the TV. It was actaully quite hilarious, everytime Ethan would stand in his way Caleb would move his whole head to see around him. I actaully found myself getting caught up in the movie. I have seen it before but it was awhile ago. It is actaully quite good! Ethan watched for a few minutes then played for awhile. I just left if on in the background (and for me to watch) and the kids just played and watched. I tell you, it was easy!
We went to a baby shower at Angele's house after, to meet her new baby Serenity. There were lots of kids there (all boys, except for the little babies). Ethan had a hoot and it was nice to chit chat with everyone. Wyatt slept the entire time!
We went to OUAC yesterday afternoon, it was a jackpot day there, I found SO many things for half price. I stocked up on clothes, they are already inexpensive there, but yesterday was just plain wonderful!
I was supposed to go to the gym last night but I had a headache, I probably still should have gone because my headache was gone by 5:30 but by then it was a lot of work. We just hung out for awhile (here comes the 'crazy' story). Ethan was frusterated with me for seom reason. Possibly because I was sitting with Wyatt and he was jealous, anyways so here it goes....
Ethan was doing EVERY possible thing he isn't allowed to do (and he knows it). He threw a book at Wyatt, hit is head, Ethan laughed, He threw toys at the cat, he was standing on the furniture, he was standing on the table, he was shaking the blinds, pretty much just WAITING for me to SNAP, (he really likes my reactions when he does things he isn't supposed to to, he laughs and laughs). So I was trying to be calm, my final straw was when I was just sitting on the floor with Wyatt in my lap, we were working on something so my hands were preoccupied, Ethan came and started dripping his waterbottle on my head, I reached my boiling point, I turned around, took the lid off his cup and dumped it on his head. Ethan looked at me SHOCKED, was silent for about a minute then started crying.... I felt bad, and as my dad put it "real mature Leslie". That being said he stopped dripping the stupid water bottle on my head.
Anyways after that we were meeting Virginia and the kids at the Tri so they could play at the playgym. Ethan thought we were going for daycare so he had a bit of a foot stomping tantrum, after i calmed him down he played very well. He really impressed me (and scared me) he was climbing this crazy bar thing to get to the slide, freaked me out, I thought he was going to fall through and smack his teeth out, but he made it everytime!! What a talented little fellow.
This morning we got up and headed back to the tri so I could workout. Ethan was very upset that this time I was actaully leaving him at the daycare. He was screaming and looking at me with these really sad eyes, it broke my heart to leave him but I reminded myself that this is good for both of us, it gives us both a break from each other, and exercise calms me down. So I left him, at the end of my workout I came and watched him and he was pushing a mini baby stroller around happily. Usually he is excited to see me when I walk in, this time he just looked and me and kept playing, so hopefully this will get easier.
We came home for lunch, Ethan's appetite has returned and he ate a ton! He is sleeping, and so is Wyatt, ideally I should be cleaning but i'm not...again.... We are off to see Aunty Michelle this afternoon, Ikea for dinner (i'm sure everywhere eles will be crazy, and Ikea is cheap) then off to the airport to get DAD!!!

So Far a MUCH Better Day

Making Valentine's!
Wyatt

I put both the kids in daycare last night and headed up to the track. I was supposed to go to the bootcamp, but I couldn't find anyone, no one at the front desk even knew where it was. By that time ten minutes had passed, I only had the kids in the daycare for an hour so I just started running. I did 8km, it was awesome. No stroller to push, just me, my music and my new lulu top :). I put Ethan to bed almost immediately after we got home, Wyatt fell asleep soon after and that was that! I watched The Biggest Loser, and was a little pissed off because half of the show was cut off, I somehow got stuck watching the WORST show on TV... "Daisy in Love". or something like that. It was SO BAD, yet somehow super addicting... it is kind of like the Bachelor but much stranger... Anyways I was falling asleep in the chair by 11 so I went to bed.

This morning we had to get up early because we had our first "Mom's Morning Out" class. This class comes with free daycare and all of the mom's get tea and coffee. It is a social gathering for mom's. They usually bring in speakers, today was the first day though so it was more of a meet and greet. The daycare was fantastic. They had everything you can think of, playdough, tons of toys, crafts. Ethan had a few friends there, He cried for a couple minutes, I could hear him through the walls, but he got quiet pretty quickly and aparently had a really good time. I think it is so good for him to be on his own, just for an hour.

After class we headed to superstore. I wanted to look around and see what I could find as more healthy options for Ethan, but so that he will actaully eat it. Ethan LOVES fruit but we usually only buy Bananas because the grapes, strawberries, blueberries and blackberries are so expensive. Today I just decided I was going to buy all the fruit so I could feel good about what Ethan was putting in his mouth. I also bought some of the yogurt that you drink and some healthy snacks. We got home and had lunch, he couldn't get enough fruit, I can to just keep passing it over to him, so I"m glad I spent the money on it. He even ate the corn I put in with his pasta. Right now he is down for a nap, Wyatt just woke up and we might do some cleaning, depending on how motivated i'm feeling in a few minutes.

It is so warm here today, it has been raining and my driveway this morning was an absolute icerink. This evening we are heading back to the Tri for another workout. I put Ethan in the daycare and I think I will do just a short run and some plyometric type activities.

5 Minutes' Peace

Anyone ever read this book? We had it when we were younger and I always thought it was a good book and fun to read! I guess I never really got it. Perhaps my mom read us this book to try to make us understand that Mom's are human too, they need breaks.
Today I need FIVE MINUTES' PEACE, that's not ture, five minutes just isn't long enough. I need a week, a week of NO children, no crying, no whining, no runny noses, no meals to cook so that they don't get eaten, no putting boots on, no doing up carseats, no nursing, no throw up on my fresh clean shirt, no messy house, no never-ending screaming, no diapers, no POOP. What I want is to just not be a parent for awhile.
Kelly has chosen to work a few days overtime, which is great for the bank but just more days for me to be a single mother. I love my kids but I AM SICK of them. Ethan gets so bored of seeing me, i'm sure he wishes that when he got up in the morning it was Dad coming to get him not me, or Granny or anyone other than me. He was so good when Claire was here! Wyatt, a very adorable child. A good eater and a wonderful sleeper, what is there to complain about??? Well let me tell you, You can't put him down, literally, the second you put him on a)the bouncy chair b) the swing c)on the playmat he screams...not just cries.... SCREAMS. SO I have to carry him. I very nicely reminded him this morning that he does have an older brother who also wants mom's attention. He didn't seem to care too much. SO I must say that Ethan and I have become very acustomed to crying in the background. I know some people don't agree with the cry it out technique, but I challenge them to come and live in my house with my kids (and the cat) for 10 days on our own. Good luck! By the time I get the kids to bed at night, I look around my house, see dinner still sitting on the table, toys everywhere, half folded laundry sitting on the chair, a driveway that needs to be shovelled, but all I can and want to do it sit in front of the TV. I stay up until 2am just to have some time to myself. Wyatt also doesn't nap, only sleeps in the carseat during the day, so leaving the house is a must. I am just so lucky he will actaully fall asleep at night.
So anyways I'm dreaming of dropping my kids and Fabian off at my parents house and leaving on a jetplane to a beautiful, adult only, resort somewhere on the ocean. I would keep the location a secret, that way there is no way of the kids following ;). That being said I can't go on vacation right now, the thought of even trying a bathing suit on at the moment makes me ill.
I've been putting Ethan in the daycare at the Tri for an hour every day so I can go for a run. He usually cries for five minutes then settles in and plays. This morning we went to the tri to go to the playgym. The second we got in the door he started crying because he thought we were headed to the daycare.... I have put BOTH kids in the daycare for an hour this evening so I can go to a bootcamp. The ladies who run the daycare always ask everyone "Do you want us to come and get you if they are crying". I always give them the same response..."Absoluetly not".
I've also created a monster in Ethan. He is OBSESSED with Timbits. We can't even drive by Tim Hortons without him saying 'Timbit'. All of my gift cards to Tim HOrton's ran out, so I went to Starbucks yesterday (since I had a gift card there). I bought Ethan a mini scone. He had a mental breakdown, he pushed it away, started crying and yelling TIMBIT.
It is a BEAUTIFUL sunny day out today, and super warm! It ALMOST feels like spring, but I know the colder weather will return, the roads will be ice rinks and the snow will continue to fall. We have a very full week!
PS Anyone want to discuss the Bachelor with me? Does anyone thing that Michelle girl is a hire actress and just there to stir things up? I really like Chantal but she seemed kind of crybabyish last night...
PPS I would also like to add, it may seem that I complain ALOT about my children on my blog and some may question whether I actaully enjoy being a mother. I LOVE being a mother, I love my children and I love spending all my time with them. I am so thankful I am able to be a stay-at-home mom. I love watching my children grow, watching their development and happen to think that I have the two most adorable and wonderful children in the world. My blog is kind of the place where all of my frusterations end up. I could probably go on and on, and I usually write my blogs or status at the peak of my frusterations and everything usually calms down right after. For example. I just put my screaming Wyatt in his crib because I decided dishes needed to be done. I listened to him scream for half an hour, I almost felt like my head was going to blow off, but it is now COMPLETELY silent in my house, both the kids are asleep... So please don't judge me and think that i'm a terrible mother because my children drive me mental. Even in my peak of frusterations, one of them will do something so adorably cute that you just have to stop and smile and realize that this stage is only temporary, they are only little once....

New Chair!

Yesterday was an awesome, great, yummy, fun, little bit boring, frusterating, SNOW,awesome, annoying, yucky, exhausting, feeling very sick kind of a day.

Let me expand. We woke up a little bit late to make our appointments at 9. BOth of the boys had doctors appointments. We managed to squeak in on time, but we didn't get our Tim Horton's on the way (Just an FYI... i'm addicted to steeped tea). So Wyatt was checked first, it was just a usual check up, everything looks great. He is 13.6 pounds and healthy. Ethan on the other hand is a bit of a mess. He woke up with his eyes completely glued shut, a runny nose that doesn't stop and a little bit groggy. According to the doctor the goobers in his eyes are ACTAULLY snot from his nose! Grosss....... Anyways he can't even open his eyes completely, poor guy, but it is not an infection. He also has another ear infection. So we got some antibiotics for that.

After the doctors we rolled through the Tim Horton's Drive through. I got Ethan a cookie and he was ticked he didn't get a 'Timbit'. He said 'Timbit' for the next hour. We went to this AMAZING store called "One Man's Treasure'. It is just a giant warehouse of antiques. It is just so neat. I would really like to go one day without any children. I had to carry Ethan the entire time, and he is not really light. Anyways I ended up buying a picture frame and a coat hanger thing for our front hall. I also bought Ethan a 'tickle me cookie monster'.

Next we were off to the Grand Opening of the cupcake store. Virginia and the kids met us there. Ethan hardly ate a thing. Caleb however was COVERED in chocolate. It was hilarious. AND they have highchairs there now, which is great. I got a coconut lime cupcake. It was very yummy, but I felt a little sick after, possibly too much icing.

We went home for lunch. Caleb and Ava came for a visit. After an hour or so it was clearly nap time for everyone, so Ethan went to bed, Wyatt took a teeeeeny tiny nap and I Claire and I did nothing. We were waiting for this fellow to come and fix our furnace. He FINALLY came (we had to call him and say that we were sick of waiting around). He got things done pretty quickly. Our furnace was leaking water. He told me that it had all been put together wrong so he had to go back and re-do everything.

The second the furnace guy left, we put the kids in the car and we were off to Home Sense. There was an accident on the way, just the smallest, dumbest little accident but the stupid police officer decided to block an entire lane of traffic off so it took about 45 minutes to get to Home Sense instead of 15.Thankfully Ethan was in a good mood, there were busses all around us so he was entertained.

We got to the first Home Sense and they didn't have the chair I wanted or anything that Claire wanted. So we had to head to the South, which was crappy, but it had to be done. So we step outside and my gosh it is a blizzard. SO we drive to the South side, my chair is THERE. I asked Kelly about the chair last night. I thought forsure he would just say "NO" and that would be the end of it. I was careful how I worded things when I asked him. I said "Kelly do we have an extra $300 right now?". Much to my surpise the first words out of his mouth weren't NO, they were "what for?'. "Well what does it look like". So we have a new chair. We jammed it into Claire's car, along with a cute dresser Claire bought. By this time it was really snowing, it was 7:30 and we hadn't had dinner. We stopped by one restaurant on the way home but of course it was Friday night and JAMMED. SO we just made the decision to go home.

What a drive. I went about 60km/h the entire way home. One thing I must say, there are some TERRIBLE drivers out there. It was REALLY snowing, the roads were starting to get pretty covered in snow. I'm snailling along going 60 and these retarded CARS go whizzing by me. Seriously, I'm in a big truck and this 1983 Tempo zooms by going the speed of light. HEY Moron, it is snowing. Those are the cards I'm scared of, they are the people that are going to cause an accident. We saw a few cars in the ditch. When I looked in my rear-view mirror all the trucks and SUVs were going a smart slow speed, then these idiots just rush by. I made up my mind and decided that if one of these losers speeding was in an accident and I saw it, I would just keep driving. I mean it is their own freaking fault. Is that mean? I don't want anyone to get hurt but my gosh stop driving like a fool.

Anywyas so we finally made it home, I was starving, we pulled into the driveway. By this time it was like 8:15 and I didn't know what i was going to make for dinner that would be quick, so we decided to go out. We went for vietnamese food. Ethan did not TOUCH his food. HOnest he didn't eat a thing. Claire's was a big plate of MUSH and mine was just too big for me. but we ate, came home and put the kids to bed.

I had like a 45 minute HOT shower, i'm sick, which is crappy. I went right to bed. I didn't have a headache, my head just felt heavy, I was hot but I was FREEZING and I have a terribly sore throat. I fed the baby, took some drugs and went to sleep. It might be an inside kind of day today. I think both Ethan and I need to just relax for a day and not leave the house. We have been carting Ethan around everywhere, not really giving him time to sleep properly.

Eye Goobers

Wyatt all set to take on the day!
Ethan and Claire at Ikea, for some reason today the kids meals were FREE! SO lunch was only $3 for all of us!

Aunty Claire and Wyatt

Fabian and Charlie doing their best to get along, infact Fabian has been far less annoying than normal. Perhaps we just need another cat to keep him occupied!

Bath time for Wyatt

Aunty Claire with the boys!

Wyatt in his very cute Adidas outfit from Grandad (shoes included)

Ethan woke up this morning with huge big eye goobers, Kind of gross, his eyes were totally glued shut, clearly he has some sort of an infection. So he has his eye goobers, then add a steady stream of snot running down hit nose and you have one gooey little boy! I have made him a doctors appointment for tomorrow morning.

The plan for today was to head to Ikea. Claire had big dreams of going home with a ton of new furniture, unfortunately everything she wanted to buy was out of stock. So we headed to Home Sense in attempts to make up for the Ikea trip! We were very successful at Home Sense, what a great store. I found the PERFECT chair for our living room, but I thought it would be wise to ask Kelly before making a large purchase on my mastercard.

We made our way home, we put up the decals, Ethan fell asleep, he didn't wake up until 6 and only because I went in and got him. He was exhasuted, hopefully tomorrow he will be back to his good old self! We made a delicious dinner, I didn't expect Ethan to eat a thing but Claire and I both stared at Ethan in shock when he lifted up his spoon and took a bite of vegetable rice! WAHOOOOO perhaps this whole food strike thing is over.... maybe, don't want to speak too soon.

So tonight was bath night, Each of us took a kid. I got stuck with Ethan because he had just used the facilities in his diaper... dang... I am trying to put Wyatt to bed earlier and earlier. Last night I put him to bed at 9:30 and he woke up at 8:30. I'm trying 8:30 tonight but he is currently extremely upset with me and crying.

It is clean the house night, so far I cleaned the entire downstairs, put all the toys away, the first thing Ethan did when he got up from his nap was turn his entire box of cars upside down on the floor.....

The Food Strike Continues

Well Ethan is STILL not eating... well not eating anything nutritious. He eats waffles for breakfast (he will also eat oatmeal). For lunch he has french fry SMILES and dinner, well tonight he had a yogurt. He is just not eating food that he used to love. I made a lasgnua for him, his favorite. Wouldn't eat any of it, tried spaghetti, not one bite. I'm not sure what the deal is! I've heard from friends that this has happened to them, their children just stop eating things they used to love. So i'm hoping this is just a phase. I bought some hasbrown patties and chicken nuggets tonight just to see if either of them would work. Ethan just played in the ketchup and I finally caved and gave him a yogurt so he wouldn't starve. He won't touch vegetables, LOVES crackers, all bread products. He iwll eat the odd banana, but let me tell you this isn't the Ethan I know! So I'll just have to see how this plays out. I know right now he isn't feeling his best. Tonigth he sat with me for half an hour. This is unheard of for Ethan, he does not cuddle. His nose is also running and I keep hearing him on the monitor waking up. Perhaps he is just sick.

It finally warmed up today, almost got above zero. I actaully really don't want it to get warm yet, this will just melt the snow, and once it freezes again it will just be an ice rink. We have moved into driving the truck. So far so good, except two days ago when we turned the truck on it started making a helicopter type noise and hasn't stopped since. can't be a good sign. Molly the Mazda is safely tucked away in the garage until someone snaps her up off Kijiji, although so far no one has called....

Aunty Claire comes tomorrow, I can't wait. She is bringing Charlie (the cat). Hopefully Charlie can knock some sense in to Fabian and teach him how to eat! Their last encounter didn't go well, Fabian ended up with a claw wound on his neck.

Sunday was weigh in day and the scale was FINALLY on my side. Three pounds down. It isn't much but i'm just happy the number is going down not up. I've been running lots, doing lots of TRX workouts and eating really well so hopefully I can keep the scale going down. I was getting very frusterated for awhile. I'm planning on doing a 10km in May or June and then my next half marathon on the 21st of August. TOday while I was running the feeling of "OH MY GOSH WHY THE HECK AM I DOING THIS" came back to me, that is how I felt probably about 4km into the half marathon and it continued until the end. I am determined to have an awesome time this time round so even if I feel like crap i'm going to plow through and be HAPPY at the end of it.

Well i've watched two episodes of 'Chef vs City' and i'm just starting 'Top Chef'.
