Run Run Run

Ethan and Caleb enjoying a yummy lunch.
Ethan and Caleb gliding at the speed of light!

Ethan enjoyed being towed!

Skating on Boxing day! (freezing cold but very fun)

Well it has been a few days, I realized I haven't written anything in awhile. Not to much going on, just getting over the Christmas food binge. My parents left yesterday, Ethan was very upset, he had a few tantrums yesterday which I link to 'GraGrad" and "Gran" leaving. But they had to leave at some point I guess. I decided I was going to take down Christmas today. I know most people wait until the 1st on January but I was ready to get back to normal. SO while Ethan slept this afternoon I took down the tree and all of the other decrations. The only thing left now is the lights. And I am now very desperate for a toybox for the living room.

Yesterday was our anniversay, Kelly brought me some beautiful roses. I had a photobook made for Kelly of the last 5 and a half years we have been together. I went on a shopping spree on Tuesday so that was my 'anniversary' gift. We rented a movie last night, "the Other Guys". I laughed a few times, but it was pretty outrageous.
I have gotten back into running. My first day I did four km, then five, on Tuesday I ran 6km and Today I ran 7km. On Tuesday I did the 6km then did a TRX workout downstairs. Yesterday I could hardly move a muscle. I was so sore!I had to take yesterday off :) I had forgot how much I enjoy running! It is so relaxing! So hopefully now the pounds will just drop quickly, because my one pair of jeans is starting to fall apart, not to mention the other day Wyatt peed all over them and I had nothing to wear all day. I'm going to sign up for the same marathon I ran before, in August. I'm hoping to smash my time by 15-20 minutes!
Wyatt is smiling like a happy litttle man, While I was taking the tree down today he was smiling and cooing, i'm kind of addicted to taking videos of him.... Ethan is getting away with everything lately, Kelly doesn't see the point of discipling I guess. If Ethan is doing something he isn't supposed to I give him to the count of five to stop or he is put in timeout. We had such a great routine going before everyone arrived, now I'm going to have to start again. I will wait until Kelly leaves.
Anyways I can't believe tomorrow is the last day of the year! Time is going by way too quickly!

The Shopping Never Ends

Well it is 4am, I am awake with a migraine, just waiting for the medication to kick in. Probably been eating too much crap...

We went into the city today, BIG mistake, it was a madhouse everywhere we went. We went to a really neat store called 'Restoration Hardware" in the Southgate mall. My mom was really excited to check this place out. We could hardly find a parking spot in the parking lot, we lucked out though and found one fairly close. Mom and I went into Restoration Hardware, it had some cool furniture and ideas but I was unimpressed, mom liked it though. I had the catelogue for the baby section but they didn't have any baby things in this particular store. Anyways the rest of the mall was a madhouse so we got back in the car and headed to the South Edmonton Common.

First stop, Sketchers, Kelly had been talking about these shoes from Sketchers since November, we finally get there and he decided that he really didn't like them that much. No big deal, in the meantime I found a fabulous pair of boots with GREAT soles and grips on the bottom. My stupid ugg boots have turned into a hazzard for both me and the kids. I keep falling in them. I didn't get the boots but I am now on the look out for a good pair of winter boots.

On our way back to the car we ran into the Adidas store. Everything was 40% off so we both found a couple of workout shirts. I found a lovely warm jacket, but it was white the we thought it would get far too dirty far too quickly.

Last stop, my least favorite store in the entire world. MARKS WORK WAREHOUSE. We went to the store in Spruce Grove yesterday, I was giving the store a second chance (I have had numerous bad expereinces there and to be honest I just can't stand the place). SO yesterday they got their second chance with me. I had been online and found a nice pair of boots there. So I found one on the floor, I went and found an employee to see if she could find me A) the matching boot and B) if they had anymore colours or sizes. She just looked at me and said "Whatever is left is all we have". Thanks for the help, I looked at her and said "Well I found this boot on the floor, there is only one, could you please show me where the other boot is so I can see what is left". I found this one boot on the floor, not by any of the other shoes, so really I just wanted her to point me in the right direction. She just looked at me again and said "Whatever is left is left" in an incredibly rude voice. Which is strange because usually when I go in Marks I can't get the sales associates to leave me alone. Anyways So I went searching on my own for the boot, which I never ended up finding... and I grumbled around loudly about her terrbile customer serice and swore I would never go back into the dang store again.
Fast forward one day and I find myself in the biggest Marks Work Warehouse in Canada... awesome. Wyatt was crying, Ethan was at the very end of his leash. They didn't have my boots and it seemed like Kelly was taking FOREVER to pick out his purchases, eventually I just went and sat in the car with the kids and fed Wyatt, anyways I was extremely grumpy and ready to go home.

I calmed down a litte on the ride home. Mom ran into Tim Hortons and bought me and Ethan a Timbit and me a tea. We finished the leftovers (finally) for dinner and watch "Bridgit Jone's Diary". I spent a little bit of time searching for a new vehicle and downloading some workout songs, then it was off to bed. Wyatt is a night owl and it takes me awhile to get him to sleep, but we finally got him down at 12:15. Once he is down, it seems he stays asleep for awhile now, which is great, but it is definately a struggle to get him down.

Our plan for today is to be at the West Edmonton Mall for 10am, We have some returns, we are expecting it to be busy so we are hoping to get in and out of there quickly. We are leaving Ethan at home with Grandad. My parents leave on Wednesday morning so I am taking advantage of having them here for one more day. I think I might need a nap in the afternoon :)

A Very Merry Christmas

Kelly just arrived home. Does he look happy to be home?
Matching Christmas Pajama's

Kelly reading the "Night Before Christmas" to everyone

Christmas Morning! Santa came! Ethan just checking everything out.

Wyatt slept through stockings and presents, woke up at breakfast but quickly fell back to sleep.

New toque from Aunty Claire

Melissa and Doug barn for Ethan and Wyatt

2010 Family Christmas Day photo

Here it is, the darn mixer that mom searched high and low for...

Still sleeping...

Playing so nicely...

Our new TV, hoping to find a new TV stand tomorrow!

The Rogers family (combined with the Quilter family) had an amazing Christmas in our new house. Santa came and spoiled everyone!

Kelly read us the Night Before Christmas on Christmas eve (after arriving home around 10). We had a feast out for him and a very excited little boy waited at the door for him to come in! We put the boys to bed (well just Ethan) and we all relaxed for a little while before heading to bed.

Our dear little Wyatt slept for 7 hours. Kelly was very surprised. I got up and fed him, everyone was already awake so we woke up Ethan and all headed downstairs to see if Santa had come. He came in a very big way. We all sat down to open our stockings. In our family we all take turns opening gifts (so the process takes a very long time). Ethan opened his first stocking gift, which was a school bus. He was very excited about it. The gifts just kept coming and he got just a little overwhelmed. Wyatt literally slept through all of Christmas.

We took a break halfway through to enjoy a yummy breakfast and then went back to opening. We were all exhausted after, Kelly went upstairs for a nap and everoyne eles just sat on the couch. We went for a wonderful (but chilly) walk with the Kisch/Stewart family then had a yummy turkey dinner.

We ended Christmas with a family game of 'Scribblish'. Kelly got it from Santa for Christmas. It was HILARIOUS. I highly reccommend this game to anyone and everyone!

My sister left this morning so my parents drove her at 6:30. They stopped at a few of the boxing day deals on their way home. Kelly has been talking about a TV for so long (our TV weighs about 400 pounds and would kill someone if it fell on them)... it is really more of a haazard than it is useful. Infact I found a TV silimlar to ours on kijiji that was FREE, clearly no one wants them. Anyways I convinced Kelly we should go 'Look' at the boxing day sales. We took Wyatt and headed out. Kelly knows that whenever I suggest us go "look" at something that we will
defiantely come home with something. I was extremely proud of Kelly, we picked out a very nice 47 inch LG TV and got in line. While we were in line i went and checked out the printers. I found one for a good price and snuck it in with our TV. We both wanted iPhones but it was so busy and we didn't want to lose our spot in line. So I am very happy to announce that the Rogers family FINALLY has a new TV :) We also now have a printer and fax machine. My plan is to no recieve all of the faxes that keep coming to us to see what we will get!
Wyatt slept for 8 hours last night! Shocking, we didn't wake up until 9 this morning! Ethan is an absoluet grump today, two really late nights, junk food and so many toys and people. He has been having tantrums all day, freaking out about everything. He fell asleep quickly this afternoon and I'm hoping to have him in bed early this evening as well. Hopefully he will back to his normal self tomorrow!

Christmas Eve

Wyatt in his Santa suit from Great Grandma Rogers. He is going to wear it for the next three days straight, seeing as it will never fit again....
Santa Wyatt

Aunty Claire and Ethan working hard at decorating a beautiful gingerbread house. Wyatt was supervising.

The Finished product

Wyatt talking to Daddy. Kelly was telling Wyatt he would be home tomorrow :) For all of the 'Friends' fans, we think Wyatt looks like Pheobe when she was pregnant and wearing Santa pants...

20 months later, I am finally putting Ethan's footprints into his baby book...

We did Wyatt's feet and hands too, he really didn't enjoy the expereience.

It is Christmas Eve! I can't believe today is already here. I have already recieved my first Christmas gift. My little Wyatt slept ALL night. I know I talk about sleep alot on my blog but really it is a major factor in my all around mood and usually determines how the day to follow is going to go. I am so very proud of my little guy and have my fingers and toes crossed that he can continue this!
No one in the house got up until 9 am this morning, My dad made a delicious breakfast and I began the Bake-a-thon 2010. I have been baking since 10 this morning and I still have so many more things to make. So far I have made Chocolate peanut butter coconut squares, Those yucky raison tart things... Don't know the name but Kelly loves them, shortbread, Mint Chocolate chip cookies up next is Pineapple squares. I bought Nanaimo bars because they are far cheaper to buy than make.
Kelly arrives home tonight around 9 so I am going to keep the boys awake because there are a few family traditions that have to take place. Granny always gives us a set of Pajama's on Christmas eve to wear to bed that night and for Christmas morning, we also have to read the Night Before Christmas. My dad usually reads this but I think he is going to pass the torch on to Kelly this year. We have a fake tree for the first time in my entire life, but we all thought it was too much work to take down the tree I had up and redecorate.
I am still in my pajamas and plan to stay in them until I am done my cooking. I once made these meatball things (from the biggest loser cook book). Anyways Kelly loved them, I was pregnant at the time and they made me vomit, so I can't eat them ever again. But since we haven't seen Kelly in awhile and it is Christmas eve I thought it would be nice of me to make them, so add that to the list.
This is our first Christmas in Alberta, we have really got the house decorated and I am very excited about waking up with the boys in the morning! Fairly certain that Santa will make a stop at our house.
MERRY Christmas Everyone!

Sleep....

Wyatt slepts for 6 consecutive hours last night! I couldn't believe it when I woke up before him. But wait... heres the catch.... it took me two and a half hours to get him to fall asleep last night. Usually I feed him, he falls asleep and I put him in the bassinet. Last night I fed and fed and fed him and I would look down to see if he was asleep and his bright eyes were just staring up at me. Finally after an hour an a half of feeding he fell asleep. So I carefully put him in his bassinet. The second his head hit the bassinet..BING.... Eyes wide open. So I jiggled and wiggled and cuddled and rocked him back to sleep. He fell asleep. I carefully put him back in... BING... wide awake again. I was getting tierd of being nice and calm with him after three attempts and two hours I just put him in his bassinet. He cried for 26 minute, fell asleep and slept for 6 hours..... I'm not sure if I would perfer the long stretch of sleep that comes with a two and a half hour process or quick go to bed routine followed by getting up a couple times in the night.....
Yesterday I got a very quick run at the Tri in. It was so busy, I was running without Wyatt because my mom had him... So no one knew that I had just had a baby. I really wished I had a sign taped on my back that said "I just had a baby, I'm not normally this big and i'm not normally this slow'. I chugged along, did some abs and was done.
Yesterday afternoon we went into the city. My mom had been on the hunt for a particular gift for my sister. She called every single place in Edmonton looking for this gift. I'm pretty sure she found the only one in all of Western Cananda. She put it on hold so we were going into town to get it. When we got there, we went into the store, we were at the wrong store. MOm had gotten a little mixed up. So they called the place where she thought she had put it on hold... it was gone. Mom was really nice to the ladies (who knows why they were so annoying and they sold the item that she had put on hold... not to mention the lady she was dealing with was like old and grubby woman and she kept calling my mom 'honey'... I wanted to punch her). So anyways we ended up going into the city for nothing. Ethan didn't nap yesterday so he was screaming the whole way home.... when we got home there were three messages on the phone saying that there had been a mix up and they do infact still have it...so we have to darn well go back in today....

Sleeping Superstar, Bad Timing

The stockings were hung!
The best picture we could get of the two boys in their matching Pajamas.

Granny reading to Ethan and Wyatt.

Ethan enjoying some snacks on his lion. He LOVES this lion.

Wyatt's new cowboy outfit, boots included!

Playing so nicely with the playdoh.

Last night Wyatt slept from 11:30 until 4:15 and then from 4:30 until 9:15. Amazingly Awesome!!!..... oh wait, except for one thing.... I was AWAKE while Wyatt slept his longest consecutive sleep ever! Why was I awake you might ask? Well we were in the emergency room in Stony Plain.

Wyatt has had a cough for the last week, the past three days it has been getting so bad that he would start choking by the end of it and it looked quite painful. So as usual I googled it, the general consenus was to bring him in, I then called the Newborn hotline, the nurse of course suggested that I go in, so I was just thinking I would make an appointment with my doctor, but the nurse on the hotline seemed to think we needed to go in within the next four hours.
SO we (Dad) decided we would go in after the Survivor reunion show. Of course we watched the late version of this so we didn't get to the hospital until 12:15. It was PACKED.... We actually got in quite quickly, we got to by pass a few people because I guess Wyatt took priority. The doctor came in and did a few checks (of which Wyatt slept through the entire thing). He sent us for an X-ray and did a few other tests. X-raying a newborn has got to be the worst experience ever. They kind of clamp them between these two plastic panels. I will admit that Wyatt did wake up for this process, screaming, but he went right back to sleep once we got back to our 'room'.
We waited for HOURS for the results, the ER was super busy and there was only one doctor. Wyatt slept the entire time, Dad sat beside me in the chair going in and out of sleeping with his mouth wide open and snoring. I would kick him everytime he started to snore. There was another sick child in there, a little boys name was 'Jacobi' which I thought was cute and interesting name. Anyways he was really sick so I stayed clear from them, but really the entire hosptial is a disgusting germ infested dump. I felt gross just sitting in there. And everything that went near that hospital will now be disinfected and washed. The guy beside us was groaning uncontrollably because he was having bladder spasams, Jacobi was crying and coughing and there was a lady ou in the hall, obvioulsy drunk or on drugs screaming for the lord to help her.
I just sat there and stared at Wyatt sleeping away, thinking that perhaps we should just get up and go, Wyatt seemed fine and we were there forever. Dad was getting pretty anxious to leave too, but I decided that we'd better stay at wait for the results, otherwise we might get more worried as the days go on and would have to go back.
The doctor looked like he was about 12, wearing skate shoes and a lululmenon hoodie, but he was actaully quite good. I kept peeking my head out to make sure we hadn't been forgotten about. Dad decided at 3:45 that he would go get me a Tim Horton's. Pretty much two seconds after Dad left the doctor came in with half of the results. The X-ray had shown something in his lungs (And he said it in medical terms... kind of went over my head, so I'm going with something). SO he gave us a perscription for antibiotics, gave Wyatt his first dose and sent us on our way. He said the results of the nose swab (the nurse jabbed a big q-tip up his nose... he didn't wake up) were going to take a couple days and the results would be sent to my doctor.
I really didn't think they were going to find anything, I just assumed he had a bad cough, so I am really glad we waited it out and now have a persciption to make this brutal cough go away... hopefully.

Granny and Grandad

New table runner and ornaments (Sorry these decorting pictures are moslty to keep Kelly in the know about what is going on at his house and to keep him in the Christmas Spirit up there in Fort Mac)
More new decorations from Granny

Granny pulling Ethan on the sleigh that I got for my first Christmas 27 years ago. Ethan loved it!

The tree (After Granny got at it)

Granny added a few (or a whole lot) of new ornaments and lights to our tree and some ornaments to the garland on the mantle.

Grandad pulling Ethan in the sleigh. Ethan yelling "Goooooooo".

Wyatt

Ethan colouring at his new table and chairs.

Well my parents drove all day yesterday and made it to our place by 12 last night. They initially were going to spend the night half way and not get into Spruce Grove until this afternoon. Am I ever glad they chose to just keep driving. Today has been great, easy and stress free!

This morning we got up, Dad made us breafast as usual, My mom cleaned the entire house. Well really she just did all the things on MY 'To Do List'. She cleaned my closet, hung all the clothes, she brought all sorts of new pillows for our bed and couch, the place always seems so much more homely when mom is around.
Both the boys napped in the afternoon, my dad went skiing in the park across the street and I headed down to the basment for a home work out. Our ellipitcal that we purchased for 20 bucks is so much tougher than I expected...
We went to Canadian Tire and Superstore for some grocerices, now we are just watching the Canucks game. Too bad my parents couldn't just move in :)

Gingerbread

My two boys in their PJ's waiting for breakfast!
Handsome little man.

There is a GIANT in Wyatt's chair.

Ava and Wyatt enjoying themselves whlie the boys make cookies. Ava put on a big smile for the camera!

Hard at worwork. Some went on the cookie, some went in his mouth.

Green-nosed little monster!

The final product. They were delicious. (And I say 'were' because they are all gone).

Yesterday we were staying in the house, I wasn't going to attempt leaving, although I heard the roads were good, it is just our road that hasn't been plowed and is on a slight incline. So we stayed home and very much enjoyed ourselves. Ava, Caleb and Virginia came over. The boys made gingerbread men. I bought the best gingerbread mix from Superstore for 3 bucks. You just add water and maragaine. SO easy and so tasty. The boys worked hard on their creations, they turned out great....
Michelle and Cohan came for a quick visit. We have been trying to get together for over a week and either sick kids or massive amounts of snow have gotten in our way so she plowed over in her SUV for a visit.
Ethan headed down for a nap and Wyatt and I headed to the basement for a workout. 20 minutes on the elliptical was deathly hard but it was a good start, and Wyatt just sat their quietly the entire time.
This morning we are heading out to the bottle depot, to get Ethan a haircut and anything eles I can think of that doesn't involved staying inside. My parents are on the road and should get here tomorrow. Hoping the roads are clear for them!

SNOW!

When I woke up at 7 yesterday it was a blizzard. The snow has not stopped since it started yesterday morning, and it isn't just a few flakes falling from the sky, it was like whiteout conditions all day yesterday! It has been crazy, I would say an easy two feet, if not more, and yes it is still snowing out. I decided we probably wouldn't make it out of the driveway for Ethan's class yesterday morning. Which is sad because it was the last class and apparently a really good one. So we stayed home and both the boys had a bath. We vaccummed the entire house and finally cleaned the kitchen floors. I did the first driveway and front porch shovel at around 11, Ethan watched me from the window. While the boys were napping I did the next shovel, and I did another one last night around 8. The snow just keeps piling up!
I had planned to go grocery shopping on Saturday (just before my parents got here) so I had been trying to eat up everything before then. I didn't know this snow was coming and when it did I realized we had NO food. No milk, no nothing. I had to give Ethan oatmeal with no milk for lunch. I decided I needed to go grocery shopping. So at around 4 we packed up and headed out. I wasn't sure if we were going to make it and in hind-sight I should have just taken a few of the offers for help but instead we were off. Made it out of the driveway and somehow made it up our road. The road conditions were terrible but we somehow managed our way to Virginia's. I dropped off Ethan and headed to Superstore. I had to shovel my way out at Virginia's but Wyatt and I made it to Superstore. I bought enough groceries to last for weeks. I spent enough to get my free 25 dollar gift card!
On the way out of the store, full cart and a sleeping Wyatt, the wind and snow were blowing. I couldn't get the stupid cart to go over the snow, so I was pulling it, cars were waiting for me, it was a bit of a nightmare. I have stupid Ugg boots that have NO grip what-so-ever. I fell once trying to pull the cart to my car, then I fell again and a very nice man got out of his car and helped me take the cart to the car. I loaded up the groceries and had to wait while the ice on the front window defrosted (because for some reason I don't have an ice scraper in my car). I used to have a huge like safety bin in the trunk of my car, but Kelly made fun of it and it didn't fit with the stroller but it sure would have been handy! Thankfully I had put some candies in the front seat, so waiting for the defrost wasn't too bad.
We made our way back to pick up Ethan. Richard had to give us a couple pushes to send us on our way back home. We slid down our road and took a good run at the driveway. We made it half way up and I had to back up and try again. I was VERY close to crashing into Kelly's truck but finally we were home and in the garage with plenty of food. Phew... Today we will stay home. Hopefully Spruce Grove can get their act together and get those roads plowed.
It is 5:13 right now, I woke up with a migraine so I had a shower and am waiting for the drugs to kick in. I bought some gingerbread dough at Superstore yesterday, so this afternoon we are going to make cookies. Something for Ethan to do, I know he is getting sick of his toys. If it stops snowing we may walk up and get our mail....

Wyatt the Sleeper :)

We went to bed at 9 last night (after the Biggest Loser the TV stopped working for some reason). So last night was the night I was determined to get Wyatt to sleep in the bassinet. I know lots of people are against the 'Cry it Out' method, but I needed to do it. Wyatt is still pretty little but it was getting a little crazy sleeping with him everynight. So I fed him, bundled him all up and put him in the bassinet. He wasn't too happy. He cried for a little over a half an hour. I listened from the computer. He finally fell asleep so I snuck in and fell asleep too (on my side and with the blankets over my head.. it was awesome).
Wyatt woke up at 11:30, 1:30 and 3:19. Each time he woke up I fed him and put him back in his bassinet. The first two times he cried for about 2 minutes and the third time he just went right back to sleep. He got up again at 7 and I just fed him and plunked him back in the bassinet and he is sleeping again. I LOVE this! We will continue to do the bassinet until January then he will move into his beautifuly decorated room :)
It is a huge blizzard outside right now, it just started about an hour ago but if it keeps up Molly won't be able to make it out of the driveway and up the hill. I hate to keep Ethan in the house all day, he goes a little stircrazy (and so do I) so we will see how it goes. I mean these snow days are really good for Kelly, it just means I have no possible way of spending money, although I could do some online shopping ;) ... Just kidding Kelly...

I am a SIDE SLEEPER!

So this morning I woke up very sore and I couldn't figure out why, I mean it isn't like I've done any physical activity lately. Then I remember, I fell, hard. No only did I fall, I fell while carrying Wyatt. We were just leaving the Perc and Ethan was running into the parking lot. I was yelling stop and usually he actaully does stop. This time however, he just kept on running. So I chased after him (while carrying Wyatt in his carseat). I slipped had fell hard on my hip/butt and Wyatt went flying and the carseat landed on its side. I was SP freaked out. Yes it hurt me a little but I was far more concerned about my poor child who I had just flung on the ground. Thank god he was all buckled in and had a billion blankets around him. He woke up, took a few looks around, then headed back to sleep. PHEW.... I was a little ticked at Ethan though.
Last night we watched another Christmas movie (The Santa Clause) then Wyatt and I headed to bed. I didn't feel like struggling so I just propped Wyatt up on my chest and we headed tobed. So incase you don't know (or incase I haven't complained about it enough). Wyatt does not sleep unless he is in his bouncy chair or on my chest. So since his birth either Kelly or I have him on our chest all night. Of course since Kelly is away I sleep laying on my back with Wyatt on my stomach. Wyatt will not even sleep in his basinet during the day now. Anyways so he woke up to eat at 4:19. So I fed him. He fell back to sleep after eating and I propped him back on my chest. At that point I had a migraine and had to pee. But if I wanted to go get medication or go pee I would wake him up, I also REALLY wanted to just turn over and fall asleep (something eles you can do with an infant lying on your stomach). SO I decided, BASSINET time. Like it or not, Wyatt. So I plunked him in his bassinet, put some blankets on and proceded to listen to him cry for 37 minutes. He FINALLY fell asleep in his bassinet. But this wasn't our success, two minutes later he woke up... DANG... So I put him in the bed beside me, not one me, but beside me, covered him with blankets and HE FELL asleep. THIS was our success, I got to sleep on my side (and it was wonderful) and Wyatt slept on his back!
ON a totally seperate note, Fabian has a BRAND new tin of food downstairs and won't touch it. He was scratching at my door last night so I had to wake up Wyatt to go and Kill... I mean get Fabian. I threw him in the basement, with his yummy fresh tin of food and slammed the door. I can now hear him meowing out of control from the basement. If he hasn't eaten that food and expects me to give him a new tin he has another thing coming. He will be spending the day in the lovely basement.

The Christmas Spirit

Yesterday was kind of a snowy, yucky day so I decided that we would spend the day inside and relax. So we did, and (much to my surpise) it actaully was relaxing. We all had naps in the afternoon and I got alot accomplished. I figured that we would head out into the world on Sunday. When I woke up today it was snowing again. Dang, I don't like to take Molly out in this weather, she kind of slips around. Anyways around 10:30 Ethan was getting extremely restless and I decided I was going to risk the slippery roads and get the heck out of the house.
I didn't really know where we were going but somehow we ended up at Canadian Tire. What a great day to go there! They were having some sort of Mega sale on all of their Christmas stuff. When I saw this I decided that I was going to put our Christmas decorations up. Our family tradition is to cut down our own tree, but it is unlikely that i"m going to trudge out into the snow with the two boys, alone and cut down a tree. SO I thought I would put my $5 garage sale tree up as a fill-in tree until my parents, sister and Kelly get home.
So we went up and down every lane of Canadia Tire, by the time we were done My cart was overfilling and I was carrying Wyatt's carseat in my arm. I bought some decorations, lights and a few presents. (Don't be alarmed Kelly, I didn't spend too much). I paid for my things and a very nice employee (i'd say a highschool aged boy) helped me out to the car. I was expecting him to just turn around and head back into the store, but he helped me load the car and then said "Have a Merry Christmas". What a nice young man. I sure hope my children are that polite. SO I was really in the Christmas mood, we headed home.
Pulled into the garage and started unloading. I always do Ethan first, otherwise he just sits in the car and screams. So he was out and usually he heads over to check out the wagon, today instead he chose to wait in the laundry room. So I head back out for a load, just as I turn around to head back in Ethan is on his way down the two steps into the garge. Then he falls, oh great. It didn't look too tragic, but then he got up and was gushing blood. Oh dear.... So we head inside and I try to get all the blood out of his mouth to assess the damage. I was terrified we had lost teeth. It was bleeding so much, Ethan's hands were in his mouth, he was screaming and there was blood everywhere (including the walls). Looked more like a crime scene. Anyways, the result.. he has a very fat lip and a large cut. He got over it quickly for what it was.
We did lunch, Ethan didn't eat much because of his mouth, and then headed off to a nap and I got to decorating. I turned on the Christmas music (Sharon, Lois and Bram which we have been listening to on Repeat since November... it is Ethan's favorite). I went downstairs and pulled out all of our Christmas stuff, I started with the tree, I mean for five dollar it is a great tree, but in reality it is a piece of junk. It is so unstable, the top curves and it has huge spaces between bows, but whatever it will do the trick until we get the new one. I did the garland next for the mantle. I SHOULD have checked the lights to see if they worked first but I didn't. So I wrapped the lights around the garland and plugged them in. No lights. So I took the lights off, pushed all the little bulbs in and plugged them in. They worked! Yeah, so I wrapped it around the garland again and plugged them in. NOT WORKING.... getting ready to give up. Now if I was smart I would have plugged the lights in, made sure they worked, left them on and then wrapped them around the garland. It took me three tries to realize that I should do that.... woops.
I'm still not quite finished my decorating, it is like the never ending project, but now it is bath time for everyone and then The Amazing Race so I will work on it a little later.

Mini Pointsettas, I want to go buy more, they are so cute... but that is far too much work.
The best picture I could get of Ethan's injury. He has a huge fat lip somewhere under the Kraft dinner and carrots.

Ummmm, Mom... I'm Hungry...

Wyatt. It is hard to get a picture of his bright blue eyes, but they are there!

Our new festive door mat, It is upside down, I know, but I wasn't going to go outside in the cold to take the picture.

The Charlie Brown tree on the front porch.

Front Entrance table. (Mom this is the tree that lights up, but there is no plug here, I really thought there was).

Decoration on the mantle. I didn't hang the stockings, I don't want to be the one to drill (well I wouldn't use a drill) holes in the wood....

Our tree, it definately leans to one side and the chances of it falling over are very high....
