Home for Halloween

Wyatt Ronald Rogers first breaths, screaming away. 'Wyatt' means 'little Warrior'. Kelly's name means 'Warrior'. Ronald of course is my dad's name.
Getting a good look at Wyatt in the recovery room.

Wyatt and his big brother Ethan, Dad and Grandad.

Me and my new little boy!

Here he is, he doesn't look anything like Ethan to me, I thought they might look similar, but to me they look quite different.

Wyatt and Grandad Q.

Granny with Wyatt, finally took him out of the awful hospital clothes.

Ethan and Ava, Ava is two days older than Ethan. Ava is Virginia's little girl!

A tierd look daddy, but a very peaceful little Wyatt.

My little pumpkin on Halloween.

Cohan came for a visit in his Halloween outfit!

All set to go home, he really doesn't look to happy about it, but right now both him and Ethan have been sleeping for two hours! I love my kids!

On Friday morning Kelly and I arrived at the hosptial at 7:30 for our C-section at 10:30. They admited us right away, brought us into a room in the labour and delivery area and immediately began prepping me for surgery. I surprisingly wasn't nervous, the IV went in, no freezing, no screaming I was super calm. They made me put my very unattractive blue hat on quite early, but anyways, About an hour later I was being pushed off into the OR. Kelly had to wait outside while they put the spinal in. I was shaking at this point (partly because it was freezing in the OR and partly because I was now incredibly nervous). I braved through two more needles, they strapped me down and I was immeidately frozen. They brought Kelly in, I didn't believe the anethesist that I was frozen and he looked at me, showed me this giant needle and said "I just stuck this in your stomach". I didn't feel a thing, next thing you know the operation had begun!
Wyatt Ronald Rogers was born at 10:35 am on Friday October 29, 2010. He weight 8 pounds 2 ounces and was 54 cm long. He came out screaming, which was a big releif. When Ethan was born he didn't cry right away, I like to hear them! They showed me him quickly, then whisked him away to get check out. They brought him to me one more time to have a look at him before him and Kelly headed to the Recovery room. Wyatt was what they call 'Frank Breech', meaning his feet were up by his head and if an attempt to delivery naturally was made his bum would have been trying to go down the birth canal first.
Once I was all stitched up I met with Wyatt and Kelly in the recovery room. We were only in there for about 20 minutes. Wyatt had already started eating, so they wheeled me off to the postpartum ward. One the way I heard the nurse say I was in "#4". All that meant to me was that I was in a FREAKING ward. It was all full too... booo. Anyways I sucked it up, this just meant that Kelly wouldn't be able to spend the night to help me. Wyatt and I had tons of visitors in the hosptial, it was so nice!

Night one was challenging. I was still drugged so that helped with the pain, but between my cathetar, my IV pole, getting out of bed to gather my crying child, it was tough, we didn't get too much sleep that night. Wyatt was up most of the night, didn't want me to let him go, so I slept while I could, while holding him. The one girl across the ward from me snored like you wouldn't believe, I thought she was a man, it was disgusting and she chewed her ice with her mouth open, at one point I almost yelled across the room for her to SHUT UP, and I also let Wyatt cry just a little extra in attempts to disturb her snore. Didn't work. The other girl in the room had her family of four kids there until about 11, then was on the cellphone talking LOUDLY until 12. How completely rude. Anyways we made it throught the night and Kelly came nice and early to help us out. They brought me my delicious 'broth' for breakfast and lunch, I asked the nurse probably about 13 times if I could get a theme room and finally at about 2 she said one had opened up. I have never moved faster (well fast for someone who just had surgery).

Kelly stayed with me for night two, little Wyatt likes to be in close contact all night, he likes to be held. Not sure if this will stick once we are home, perhaps we just lucked out with Ethan, Mr Sleeper. Wyatt prefers to sleep during the day so far, and much less during the night. I was feeling really good (in comparison to my last C-section). THe recovery was going well, the nurses told me it was because I didn't do any labour this time. I asked the doctor about leaving a day early (originally slated to go home Monday). She said things were looking good, so this morning, eager to talk to the doctor, she came in, looked and me and said, yup your outta here. We packed up quickly and now we are home! Home in time to see Ethan in his Lion costume for Halloween :)

Awake!

Well we went to bed at 11:30, I woke up at 2:16, 3:13, and then again at 4:22. I layed there and watched the minutes go by until I made the executive decision at 4:37 that sleep wasn't on the agenda for me tonight. I hopped out of bed (not really hopped more like rolled out) and headed for the shower. I didn't think I was nervous about today, but apparently some part of my brain decided to overrule sleep.
SO Kelly and I are heading to the hospital around 7:15, Surgery is at 10:00. It is an extremely strange feeling to have it so planned out, i'm not sure how I feel about it. This pregnancy seems so strange, I mean I feel pregnant, I certainly look pregnant, but some part of me feels like there can't really be another baby in there! It really feels like i'm just going to be huge forever!
I've got my bag all packed, I feel much more prepared than last time. I've requested a 'Theme' room but no C-section gets one on the first night, so hopefully a private room will come available, because I'm just not interested in being in a ward for three days!
I had my pre-operation appointment yesterday, as I was walking up to the room I ran into Richard and Virginia, on their way to see their little girl in the ICN. So I told them I would stop in after and say hello. On the way to the hosptial Kelly asked me if I had done my emla patch (these are freezing patches they give to little children who are getting needles) I said no, he was surprised I was heading in for needles without them. I decided I was now a big girl and could do without them, so he said that after my appointment he would get me a treat!
They took my blood, checked the baby's heart rate, explained the entire surgery to me, asked me my weight (I told them, sadly) THEN they asked my my weight when i'm not pregnant. I told them, expecting them to gasp at the horror of my weight gain, but no she didn't even flinch.
I went and saw baby Ava in the ICN after the appointment, it was time to eat, she was eating like a pro, Richard and Virginia were in there, she was all set up under the lights. She is a very sweet little girl. Virginia said she would be in the hosptial until Sunday (originally Saturday) so it will be nice to have someone around while i'm there.
Kelly picked me up and we headed to Babies R Us for a new monitor, then since we were all starving we went to Cora's for breakfast, this was my 'treat'. It was so delicious. Then we were off to Michelle's for a visit before heading to the airport. I held Cohan the entire time, he slept like a log, he has grown so much! Kelly chased Ethan around for an hour and a half and just before both Kelly and Ethan lost their minds we were off to the airport to pick up Granny and Grandad!
YEAH! They are here, already so much help, it just is so nice to have my Mom and Dad here, they have settled in, my dad is already pestering the cat, Ethan was having the time of his life with them, so i'm happy they are here to watch Ethan while we are in the hospital.
Anyways after two terrible episodes of the Office (dad's new favorite show)---I can't STAND it.... we were off to bed.
So now it is 5:38, my alarm is set for 6, Kelly's is set for 6:30, I have to wait until it is time to leave, I can't eat, drink, or even chew gum.....

Offically Costco Members

Ethan and Kelly coming down the slide. Ethan held the ball the entire way down!
Ethan with his 'Duck' badge (or should i say sticker, the swimming association has cheaped out since I was in swimming lessons, what happened to the embroidered badges?)

Beautiful Baby Ava Elizabeth Louise Kirchner.

Ethan was really searching for something up there.

I am happy to report that Ethan has passed the DUCK level of swimming :) Like a little star him and Dad rode down the big waterslide and completed his lesson. The DUCK level goes until 3 years so we will most likely take it again between now and three years just to keep Ethan swimming.
After swimming we headed to Superstore to get some groceries for my parents arrival. That place just stresses me out and makes me grouchy. It is still under construction and no one knows where anything in. The young boy (and I say boy because he is like 14) in the photo department is completely useless and almost snotty. I have no time for him.... I gave him my best pregnant snotty back. They still don't have ink.... it has been almost a week....
When we got home I got a call from Virginia to let us know that she had a GIRL! Ava! I totally thought she was having a boy, so excited to spend lots of time with Ava! We had a quick lunch and decided Ethan wasn't going to have an official nap today, too many things to do and we expected him to sleep in the car. I had a doctors appointment, the doctor is predicting a large baby, I guess we shall see on Friday but I don't doubt her one bit. After the doctor I finally convinced Kelly that we needed a Costco card. So off we went, Kelly probably would have spent hours in that place, I lost him like five times, he wandered up and down every lane like a kid in a candy store. We spent a fair chunk of money on more groceries, a few Christmas presents and the all important 'snow shovel'. Ethan needed new pajama's so we bought a few pairs of them and of course i had to buy Virginia a 'pink' sleeper.
Since we were already in town we stopped at the hosptial for aquick meet and greet with Ava, she was sleeping when we got there but I couldn't resist scooping her up and giving her a cuddle. She is adorable! Richard was just returning when we got there with Caleb so we didn't stay long, it was really crowded. We just missed rush hour, had a late dinner then got to work. I vaccuumed and did a few tidy up chorse, Kelly Vaccuumed the car and washed the floors, the place is fairly clean and we are mostly ready for my parents and the baby.
We made the mistake of buying Halloween candy. I told Kelly if we didn't open the box it wouldn't be an issue, well when I went into the pantry the box had mysteriously been opened so I coudln't help but take some. I have now experienced the wonder of a wunderbar, so delicous.
We watched Survivor, kind of dull, then watched Modern Family. Usually I find this show funny, but not hilarious, tonight I was laughing hysterically (only at two parts) but I was laughing so hard I thought I might hurt the baby. I will hopefully not laugh that much after the c-seciton, that is painful.

And the list goes on....

We headed out for a walk yesterday, it was -4 so decided to put Ethan in his new snowsuit. The snowsuit was awesome, the hat was awesome, clearly we need some gloves. We put his snowboots on, only to learn that they are cheap crap (they are the ones you take the liners out and then put their feet in). Anyways they suck so I'm on the lookout for new boots.

Another busy day expected in the Rogers household. Yesterday was filled with a huge 'to do' list that we aren't even half way through. Everything must be done by tomorrow at about 4 (when my parents arrive).

Yesterday we were up at the crack of dawn again, for Ethan's last 'Ready, set Play' class. I'm almost sad it was the last class as he was just getting into it, he even went into the big blow up bouncer, which he would only stand and look at before. We went to the free play after, Ethan had a meltdown because he couldn't get this toy he was pushing over a mat so we took off. Came home and tried to get a few things done (as much as you can do with Ethan awake) then it was off to get Ethan's 18 month immunizations. I made Kelly come for two reasons, A) because he had never come to his immunizations and I am tierd of always being the mean mom who hurts him (according to Ethan) and B) I didn't think I could hold Ethan during the shots with the large mass coming out of my stomach. So he came and Ethan was great, didn't even notice the first one, the second one hurt him but the nurse brought out the bubbles and all was well.

Ethan had a great nap and Kelly and I flew through some chores. I mopped the basement floors and put the sheets on the baby's bed. Not sure what Kelly did but I did notice a few things off the list.

This morning is Ethan's last day of 'Duck'. Hopefully there are no poop incidents in the pool today. I'm going to go and take photos, and help Kelly get Ethan changed after. I am almost at the point where I don't like to leave the house because FAR too many people ask me 'When are you due'... perhaps I'm just a grouch but i'm just getting sick of the the nice small talk.

Virginia is in having her baby today (she still doens't know what she is having). So i'm excited to hear if she is having a girl or boy! We need to get grocieries for my parents arrival and clean the ENTIRE house (not to mention finish my list). I have a doctors appointment this afternoon, then it is back to cleaning/preparing!

Poop in the Pool!

The new baby's room. The colour is a little bit lighter than this, looks much darker with the camera for some reason. Anyways I love the colour and it matched our sheet set (which is being washed) so I just need to add a few more things to make it look more complete.
We bought a new bed for Ethan (one that came with the toddlers bed attachment) so the new baby gets this crib. Ethan took good care of it, there are hardly any chew marks on it or anything!

Kelly working very hard to set up our new 'home gym'. And there it is folks, the top of the line eliptical trainer :). The boxes on the corners are to prevent the dumb cat from scratching the vapour barrier. So now our basement serves two purposes, guest room and home gym!

This morning I woke up to a lovely blizzard. Well blizzard might be an exageration, but it was snowing, and sticking! Our first snowfall of the season. I wasn't feeling 100%, stomach ache, probably from the massive amount of food I had eaten the night before. I had to drag Kelly and Ethan out of bed and get them fed and ready for 'Duck'.
Am I ever glad I wasn't at 'Duck' today. Kelly said about half way through the class he smelt poop. He assumed it was one of the kids who had pooped in their swim diapers, then he said the smell got worse, and the next thing you know the whole pool was being evacuated. Kel said it was disgusting. Apparently one of the children who was SUPPOSED to be wearing a swim diaper was not. Kelly said their class was blowing bubbles in the water and Ethan was chewing on one of the pool toys. So completely nasty. Kelly said everyone made a mad dash to the hottub, so that means all the poo covered people have now contaminated the hottub. I'm not so sure how I feel about the cleanliness of the Tri Leisure Centre pool anymore. But apprently this happens quite often. Either way, I was a little timid to share a cup with Kelly for the rest of the day ;)
We had lunch early today, so we had some time before Ethan headed for a nap, we just hung out upstairs and I was paroooozing kijiji. I found a universal gym for $100 bucks. I thought it would be great for the basement when Kelly was away and I couldn't get to the gym. So I put Ethan to bed and sent Kelly out to pick it up. In the mean time, I still wasn't feeling all that well but thought that making peanut butter cookies would help. I would definately recommend peanut butter cookies to anyone with a stomach ache.
Kelly arrived home with not only the universal gym but a very classy (please note the sarcasm) eliptical trainer which he purchased for $20.
We made tacos for dinner, Ethan LOVED them, after bath, we thought we would keep Ethan up a little bit later tonight since he has now become afraid to go to bed for some reason. He was in the happiest mood, jumping and playing! We read some books, watched some Sesame Street videos and attempted bed. He only cried for a few minutes so apparnelty 7 is now too early for bed time (which makes my life just a little tougher for when Kelly is gone).

Kelly has been in the basement for a good two hours putting together this home gym. Our printer is broken so he keeps running up and down three flights of stairs to check the instructions he has found online. At least he is getting a workout :) I helped for awhile, I cleaned all the dust off it, vaccuumed the entire basement, then took a break on the couch. I had a great chat with my wonderful old roomie Heather, So much fun catching up!

Brrrr.....

We woke up late this morning, well I should say Ethan and Kelly woke up late this morning, my hands were numb and tingling all night so I was up bright and early. It is dark here until about 8:30 -9. I love it though, everything seems so much more relaxed. We took our time and made some pancakes, hung out for awhile. Got a call from Virginia saying she was heading to the hospital, I was excited, that would give me something to do tonight, so visit the new baby. But turned out to be a false alarm (seems to be a growing trend among us pregnant people). Ethan started to get cabin fever around 10:30 so I thought it would be a good idea to head outside for a run. Ethan really likes the 'Dog Rump' Park in Stony so we went there.
It was so freaking freezing, We bundled Ethan up pretty well, but I was unaware of the windchill factor. Kelly and I were freezing, me mostly because nothing fits me and I just had one of Kelly's hoodies on. I think we stayed for about half an hour, Ethan had a blast, Kelly and I just froze. It felt like a day on the 'Westcoast', wet, windy, and just plain cold.
We came home and had a delicious lunch and put Ethan down for a nap. Kelly continued painting and finished! The room looks great, but so far there is just one crib and one dresser in it. It could use a few more things to make it look less boring. I'm working on it. I had a small nap, and I could hear Ethan crying from his crib after only half an hour of sleeping. I was having none of this, i chose to ignore and as I suspected he went back to sleep for another hour and a half.
I took some meat out for dinner but I was just too plain lazy to cook it (I was thinking tacos). SO we went to East Side Mario's for dinner. My gosh, what a mess. We get there, OUT of highchairs. Seriously? This is a family restaurant and it is Sunday night. Yet, we chose to stay. We waited half an hour for our drinks, Ethan by this time was getting a little anxious and hungry, Where is our free bread? We as the manager for our drinks, she didn't seem like a nice person and seemed like just someone on a power trip, all proud that she was the manager of the restaurant. Anwyay finally get our drinks and bread. At this point i'm sure our food is going to have spit in it. Spit, or no spit I was starving so I scarfed down my entire meal (I chose something very spicy to try to induce labour....so far no such luck). Ethan ate everything in sight, when we put him in the carseat his stomach was hard as a rock. That's my boy. It ended up taking two hours to eat dinner at a restuarnt that should take about an hour.... anyways, I was satisfied. Came home and had like a half an hour long shower, i was so cold.
We just watched the Amazing Race, i'm ready for bed! Here is to hoping that the next four days go by super quickly!

Halloween Howler

We bought this mirror the other day, weren't sure if we liked it, but have decided we do, so the cardboard is now off. Fabian also managed to sneak into this photo.
The new guest bed, and my attempts to make it look 'homey'.

Kelly with baby Cohan, just getting some practise for Friday!

Our now annual group shot, we are missing a couple and there are some tears, but fairly good!

Me with my Ethan and little Cohan!

Ethan waiting for his friends to arrive!

38 and a bit weeks. Five more days until baby. This is about how all of my shirts fit now, they don't!

My Torpedo.....

This morning Ethan (and us) hosted the 'Halloween Howler' for Ethan's little friends. We did a Halloween party last year when all the kids were just teeny, none of them could even walk, this year they could all walk, play and make lots of noise. Surprisingly this year seems a lot more quiet and low-key.... Anyways it was very cute. Even little Cohan made an appearance as a lion and infact Cohan was the party boy, he stayed the longest out of everyone.
Ethan was COMPTELY tuckered out after the party (he had been up and playing and eating junky food all morning). So he slept until around four. Michelle, Atti and Cohan stayed for some tea, then we had a lady come give us an estimate on some blinds for two windows down stairs and the two windows in the bonus room. The estimate seemed a little high, but to have them done and installed, to me is worth it.... maybe not to Kelly :)
When Ethan woke up we went to Superstore, I had ordered some photos online the night before, well of course we get there, they can't find them, so i grumble for a little, then suggest trying Quilter. So he finds them, on the computer, not done and then tells me they won't be done for ONE WEEK! Seriously, everytime I order pictures there is a problem, this time they were OUT of ink. Doesn't that seem like a very important part of photo development. Get it together Superstore. So I waddled out of there with a big snear on my face.

We had leftovers for dinner, and Ethan was a miserable little man so we put him to bed and now Kelly is painting and I am heading to the basement to vaccuum and do some laundry. Fabian is looming around, not interested in eating the fresh can of food I have out for him but meowing like he hasn't been fed in days....

Thank you for all the name suggestions. I have always had a few name possibilities in my mind, I guess I'm just not sold quite yet so I thought i'd see what everyone had in mind. I am pretty sure I know the name of the new little guy, middle name included. Five more days!

One Week

In One week Kelly, Ethan and I will be adding one more little man to our clan. I am excited, nervous, anxious and about a million other things. I'm mostly prepared but still have a few things I need to get done before the little guy arrives. It has been a whirlwind since Kelly got home, we have been spending money like it is nobody's business, which I know is stressing Kelly out just a little.
Ethan and I were eating bread crumbs and beans on the last day before Kelly got home so the grocery shop on Wendesday was massive, it was a little dissappointing as usually Superstore has a 'free' product if you spend $250 but it would seem that this was the one week that they didn't have anything.
Yesterday we made our way to Ikea and bought a bed frame and mattress. We are having lots of company in the next few months and decided that sticking them on a blow up mattress in the bonus room wasn't sufficient anymore. So we bought the Malm bed and one of the Ikea mattresses. We set it up in the basement and I am doing my best to make it look like an actual room as opposed to a basement. So far so good. We stopped at Home Sense on the way home from Ikea and picked up a mirror for above the mantle. Right now we just have it sitting up there, we have 10 days to decide whether or not we like it. It is growing on me.
This morning I met Michelle and Cohan at the mall. I bought Kelly his birthday present, I was up bright and early, i've made an appointment for an estimate on the rest of the blinds. I figure I don't need to living in a fishbowl while i'm trying to manage two boys.... (three if you include Kelly).I have made an appointment for a fellow to come in and install our garage door opener. This will be ultra helpful when it is -30 outside, don't need to scrape the car or drag groceries in from the cold driveway!
I have made my appointment for my 'pre-op'. This is next Thursday, she said I just have to come in and do some blood work, check out the baby etc. That will be an exciting day as my parents arrive and I can't wait for them to get here!
This morning I also prepared the baby's room for Kelly to paint, so he is in there right now painting away... I went to Babies R Us to buy a new baby monitor (mine is terrible) but of course they were out of the one I wanted. Other than that, not too much to prepare, I've got my bag mostly packed, I don't need to purchase any more clothes for the baby, we have diapers and everything eles we need. Now we just need a name......
Still taking suggestions :) we are running out of time....

I Made it to Tuesday!!!

I didn't sleep a wink last night, every time I move I wake myself up, i swear everytime I looked at the clock, one hour had passed, of course stupid Fabian started his meowing early (because I didn't give him a fresh tin last night, was hoping he'd finish off the half eaten one on the floor). But no, so up and adam bright and early once again.
My hands are giant, red and throbbing and my feet are uncontrollably itchy, my face is breaking out to the point where no amount of make up can cover it and my one pair of pants is getting awfully dirty:). But besides all of this today is a FABULOUS day! It is TUESDAY! And that means KELLY! WAHoooooo.
Kelly gets his usual week off, and because the baby is coming on a day that he would usually be working (that is ten days by the way) it means that he has to have THREE weeks off. Three weeks of HELP! Again BEST day ever. Westjet better have their act together tonight because if he is late, delayed or canceled the possiblity of tears is very great!
Ethan has started saying "Poop" everytime he has pooped. He only says after he has pooped but still a step in the right direction i'd say. Anyways, yesterday as I was making dinner Ethan had said poop (but I chose to ignore it for a minute and finish dinner). Anyways apparently it was really bugging him because noticed he has his hands down his pants. I'd forgotten he'd pooped but went to pull his hands out of the back of his pants. A gross motherly moment, little hand covered in poop. Up we go to change his diaper and wash his hand. Lesson learned, if he says he has pooped, change him immediately.
Ethan had a ball at 'Duck'. He was really into it, he was laughing the entire time, loves jumping off the wall into my arms, throwing the toys and kicking his feet. He even walked through the tunnel, which is a breakthrough for Ethan since all his previous attempts, he has made it but not without a sour face full of tears!
We have so many things to do before the new baby arrives, I have created a huge list which will no doubt keep Kelly busy for the entire three weeks he is here (He is only allowed to work on household tasks when Ethan is napping or down for the night). This is my unwritten rule. When Kelly is home I refuse to single parent it... haha.
We are off to "Ready, Set Play" this morning, I'm sure Ethan will be thrilled to be woken up, once he is up we will be all set!

I Should be Sleeping...

I should be sleeping, instead I spent the evening watching about four episodes of 'Sister Wives'. That show is messed up, the husband is a slimbag, and the wives are crazy.... but for some reason it is far too intriguing to turn off. There is no way, never in a katrillion years would Kelly be able to 'take another wife'. He would lose the best wife in the process (and his kids)! Haha, then I might have a jealous rage an lose my mind. Yet still, I can't stop watching it! At least The Amazing Race was on tonight, but even that show is getting lame, the detours and roadblocks seem to be getting easier and people don't seem to be getting lost and screwed up as much anymore. But i'm glad those two annoying singers (as they call themselves) were eliminated. Not everything in life needs to be a song you know!
Ethan and I had a great day, he woke up early but we kind of took our time getting ready (mostly because we had nothing planned), then Maureen called and wanted to go to the park, so we headed back to our old stomping grounds (Stony Plain). We took the kids to "Dog Rump Park". (yes that is the real name of the park). There is a great playground and some paved paths and bridges, the kids had a great run around, we got home just in time for lunch and a nap.
Ethan slept for 2 and a 1/2 hours. I should have napped but I have created this huge task list for myself to complete and I like the feeling of checking things off, so I scooted around, swept the front porch, did more laundry, vaccuumed mopped, right when I finally sat down Ethan woke up.
He immediately started tearing the toys out of the toybox, so I packed him up and we headed over to play in the sandbox with Caleb. By the time we got home it was dinner/bath bed! We have absoletly no food in the house right now, but I refuse to go grocery shopping without Kelly, it is just way too much work and I always end up sweating and exhausted. So for dinner Ethan had perogies (A very healthy option) and I had a Chicken wrap full of questionable ingredients. I say questionable because i'm not too sure how long they have been sitting in our fridge. But they tasted ok and i'm still here so.... I have a massive list for Kelly, he really won't appreciate it but hey at least we will spend enough to get the 'free' giveaway at Superstore :)
Today my right ankle has really been bothering me. I'm not sure why (it is not like i've been doing an abundance of physical activity). It is probably because my ankle is not used to carrying this much excess weight! So hopefuly this is just a 'pregnancy' related ankle issue. I need to be back up and running and training to kill my time in the next half marathon......

My Life in Days

Ethan doesn't look overly happy about being at the Scarecrow festival.
Ethan and Nolan decorating their cookies. Ethan wasn't so much decorating as he was eating each piece of candy and then devouring the cookie.

From this angle the cookie looks delicious.

Our little lion saying hello to the Goat.

Ethan found the three terrified sheep in the corner and started baaaing at them.

Pointing at the Donkey, Hee Haw

Doing a great job painting his pumpkin! It is a masterpiece!

Artist at work!

So his got a little on his face when he tried to eat the brush, but who doesn't do that?
My Life In Days:
1 Day until all my hard work and cleaning gets destroyed. Actaully less than one day, in about 14 hours when Ethan wakes up the house will again be a disaster.
2 Days until I have to put my monster swim suit on for the last time and parade around the pool for Ethan swimg class. Kelly will be taking him for the last three classes. What a good Dad :)
3 Days until Kelly arrives for three weeks. THANK GOSH!
7 Days until the Halloween Howler! Lots of little toddlers running around in their costumes! Too cute!
12 Days until my parents arrive for a week and a half!!! Too bad they aren't staying forever! I could use their help everyday all day!
13 Days until we add a new little boy to our family! (Name is still to be determined)....ARG!
15 Days until Halloween. I have to miss Halloween this year, i'm terribly sad so i'm hoping my parents will take our little lion out trick-or-treating. I will want the candy by then. I"m not sure how much longer I will be able to get away with stealing my son's candy!
16 Days until I arrive home with our new little bundle of joy (PLEASE let him be an easy baby). Oh yeah and it is Kelly's birthday too!

Shopping

The title of this blog may scare you Kelly, but not to worry I got some great deals today and didn't go over budget :)
I felt like I haven't seen Ethan all day, I woke up bright and early, mostly because of our retarded cat who won't eat food that isn't from a "Fresh" tin. So he had food down there, but since he didn't see me open it he wouldn't eat it and decided to piss me off until I woke up. So Down I went, put the old food and the cat in the basement and shut the door.
I attempted to clean the house a little, finally unloaded the dishwasher (my least favorite chore) and did some dishes. At about 9:30, I was wondering when my son would wake up, I got a call from Michelle saying her and Cohan were just pulling up! It was a great surprise, and even better than Ethan wasn't up because that meant I got to hold the little guy!
Ethan didn't wake up until 10:10 so him and Cohan both enjoyed some breakfast and then we just relaxed, next thing you know it's 11:15! Ethan was very eagar to go for a run in the park, so we suited up. Michelle and Cohan went home and out we went, it was really sunny outside but SO freaking cold and windy. I think our walk lasted about 15 minutes before I decided that Kelly's hoody really wasn't cutting it and I was cold. So we trudged back and had some lunch, then it was nap time! Already!
Ethan fell asleep right away and didn't wake up until 3:45! I thought I should vaccuum, pick up toys and clean, instead I settled in on the couch and also had a good 1 and a 1/2 nap! It was perfect! I planned on going to the mall to buy Ethan's cousin her birthday present, by the time Ethan woke up it was pretty late, but we needed to leave the house, so off we went. It was SO fun! There are so many cute things out there for girls and the mall had the best sales. So I took full advantage. We stayed for a little more than an hour, by then Ethan was getting restless and My tummy was sticking out from under my shirt (and they have so many darn mirrors in the mall) that I decided it was time to go before I got really mad that I have no clothes that fit and spent a whole pile of money on maternity clothes that I would only wear for a week.
Of course once we were back on the road it was rush hour, I made the decision to turn a way we don't usually turn to see if it was faster, big mistake. Traffic was so backed up but considering they are doing construction on pretty much every road in Edmonton i'm sure the way I usually go would have been extremely backed up as well. Ethan was in good spirits again so I was very thankfull for that!
Tonight I am determined to clean! Yup... Ethan is asleep (well he's not asleep he is crashing around in his crib). I will start with the laundry... I'm really good at doing the laundry, I just hate folding and actaully putting away the laundry! I"ll see how far I get.

Another Day, Another Doctors Appointment

Gosh, I hardly even remember waking up this morning. Oh yes that is right, Ethan woke himself up coughing this morning at 6:30. I gave him a few minutes to recover and then he headed back to sleep. The poor little guy, he had been coughing all night. When he finally woke up for good he was very congested. So I decided that 'Duck' wasn't the best idea this morning. Instead, I took him into the shower with me at home (In hopes to try to get rid of some of his congestion). So he just sat on the shower bench, he actaully really enjoyed it.
We had two doctors appointments this afternoon. Ethan's 18 month appointment and my 37 week appointment. They did Ethan first, he was extremely unhappy.... Ethan weights a wopping 27.4 pounds. She didn't give me that in percentile but I thought that was pretty normal. Ethan was definately out of his ordinary and extremely agitated... she checked his ears and told me he had a pretty bad ear infection which was probably the cause of the pain. Aside from the ear infection she said he was great, he had reached (and surpassed) all fo the 18 month milestones that they look for. I asked her about the cough, she said there wasn't too much that we could do about it and it would probably go away on its own.
Up next, me! 37 weeks, Apparently im measuring 39 weeks, just another reminder of how incredibly huge I really am. She told me to stop eating sugar (Sugar is what makes the babies bigger). So I opted to not tell her about the delicious Tim Hortons Apple Fritter I had just consumed. She gave me my papers, which I am to cart around with me in the off chance that I do go into labour. The little guy is stil breech.
So Ethan and I headed to the pharmacy to get his antibiotics, while we were there I picked up some more baby tylenol and some baby vicks. I ahve heard that if you put baby vicks on their feet it really helps. SO I thought it was worth a try. We were supposed to go to the park with some friends but Ethan fell asleep on the way home, he was so asleep that I was even able to carry him right to his crib, STILL sleeping!
I attempted to feed him dinner but he was just screaming, I think he was in a lot of pain because it was a cry that I had never heard before. I gave him some tylenol and put him in his jammies (with the Vicks on his feet).
It was girls night out tonight, we were heading to "The Melting Pot'. A fondue place in Edmonton, talk about delicious. I decided to give my best effort at dressing up so I put on a jean skirt, well bad idea, it was so freaking tight and uncomfortable. Anyways dinner was incredible. Again we won't mention the chocolate fondue dessert to the doctor. But I swear this is the last of the sweets for me.
Back home now, Ethan isn't coughing but he is in pain, his ears. He keeps waking up and crying out a couple times then goes back to bed. We will see what kind of night is in store for us. I have PVR'd Survivor so that is my next task :)

Art on the Walls

Today we were up at the crack of dawn... well it seemed really early. Ethan had his "Ready, Set Play" class this morning at 9. I won't sign him up for another class this early, waaaaay too early. Ethan wasn't himself this morning, he was his usual shy, but would cry anytime Kelly or I left the room and really wasn't into playing with any of the toys or the kids. We stuck around for a couple minutes in the free play gym next door after but Ethan just started crying so we were outta there.
We had some lunch and put Ethan down for a nap. I was determined to get some art on the walls, it seems like we are living in such a bare house, there is hardly any art on the walls and it just seems so bland. So I think we got three paintings up and I have chosen a really nice mirror to go on our mantle. So that will be the next project.
Ethan and Kelly headed out for a walk when he woke up then we headed over to visit Caleb, we ended up staying for dinner so by the time we got home Ethan pretty much went straight to bed. I settled in on the couch with my bowl of ice cream and watched the Biggest Loser. I figure I'm huge already, i'd better get the last couple weeks of yummy treats in before I start my major weight loss journey. I can't wait to be skinny again, i just feel gross at the moment. I have no clothes, one pair of jeans that is pretty much filthy.
I am currently GLUED to the TV. I can't stop watching the rescue of the miners in Chile. It is so neat they way they are doing it and so wonderful to see the reunions between the miners and their family. I think I will stay up for one more rescue before I head to bed.
Ethan is sick sick sick, he keeps waking himself up couching, he has had a runny nose for like two months but his cough has gotten quite a bit worse. From what I've read there isn't much you can give a toddler for a cough. Many people have reccommended a humidifer or baby vicks on their feet. We both have doctors appointments tomorrow so I will see what she says. I'm anxious to see how much Ethan weights for his 18 month appointment!

A Wonderful Thanksgiving Weekend!

The first photo of the day at the Pumpkin Patch!
The Boys! Ethan didn't really care to take part in these first few photos....

Most of the crew with the Pumpkin Lady, Ethan just making sure that Dad won't let go!

Ethan overwhelmed with pumpkins!

The Pumpkin Ethan stole, we just went with it... a dollar is far too much for a pumpkin this size!

Trying to steal another pumpkin or as Ethan would call them 'A Ball'

Loved these little goats! And they were so friendly. The brought a baby bunny out for me to hold. ALMOST made me miss Matilda :)

Ethan making his way through the dead corn!

Ethan standing in what is left of the Corn Maze! They had a pumpkin Cannon that was very intriguing but a little loud for the kids!

Chasing Kelly through the Hay Bail Maze! The hay bail maze was the best part for these guys, they loved it.

Caleb, Ethan and Nolan on top of a giant bail of hay!

All of the Dad's with their boys!

A Family Shot!

Ethan loves pumpkins. Unfortunately since there wasn't enough sun this year the pumpkins are all green, unless you go to Superstore and want a moldy, mushy imported orange pumpkin.

Baby Cohan, Uncle Atti and Ethan. We will soon add one more to the mix. We were thinking about it, if we do Thanksgiving again, with all of the same people there will be SEVEN children!

Ethan enjoying (or not enjoying we aren't too sure) his Thanksgiving Dinner.

A Glimpse of the Chaos that was Thanksgiving dinner at the Rogers Family house! Toddlers everywhere, not enough room for everyone to sit. But fun to have everyone together!

Dinner at the Kisch house. Uncle Atti brought out his childhood Tonka Truck. Very Cool according to Ethan.

Ethan and three of his favorite things! A Ball, A Dog and Uncle Atti! (Uncle Atti always has so much more energy than Mom and Dad) :)
