That's it!

SO I have decided.... it is time for me to end my time on facebook. I'm doing this for a number of reason.

1: I feel like it takes up WAY too much of my time. I'm always on facebook checking everything out. It is the first thing I do when I get up and the last thing I do before I go to bed. I don't think that checking my facebook is more improtant than my family and I want to stop wasting my time.

2: Facebook seems to cause problems, even when not intended to cause problems, like saying something that is taken in the wrong context, and everything is so public (even if you have your privacy settings set to SUPER private).

3: I started facebook having over 350 friends and aquaintences, after Ethan was born I decided I would only have close friends and family, since I didn't want complete strangers on my facebook. I kept running in to all sorts of people i had deleted and people had mentioned that I had deleted them on facebook to friends. It was awkward. Now it seems like what used to be a kind of university aged group that used facebook has changed to a huge span from kids as young as like 9 to seniors. It has all gotten a little much for me, I have to watch what I say, and remember who I have on my friends list.

I love facebook for many reasons, it is an extremely easy and fast way to keep in touch with so many people, it is great way to keep my family updated on our life, uploading photos is so easy, and so much easier than sending photos in email format. And it wonderful to be able to check out and see what everyone eles is doing.

I think from now on i'm going back to my good old hotmail account. It has always treated me well and it will hopefully help me cut back on computer time and allow me to spend more time with my little guy and Kelly!

I'm not going to delete my account, I have so many photos and videos on there and it is an easy way to look at them in order. On my computer all my photos are scattered all over the place. I just don't think i'm going to communicate with anyone via facebook, so everything will be done through hotmail or our telus mail!

Wahoo..... I can do this!

Reality TV breakdown

So as some of you may know i'm kind of a TV junkie. I feel like I watch too much, but I just don't care, it is all good stuff! I have a show for everynight of the week (minus Friday and Saturday).... So I thought I would give you my breakdown about what I think should happen on the reality TV that I watch!

So lets start with Monday: Dancing with the Stars

My favorite is BUSS, he's so cute, but he's not going to win. I don't like Jake (from the Bachelor) you know I feel like he trys to be so cute and humble, but I think he is fake. I have a spot in my heart for Kate Gosslin, I don't know, I just like her. Again, I don't think she is going to win. I think i'm going to say that Evan lysachuck or Nicole S (pussycat Doll) are going to take it. I don't think Pam stands a chance.

Ok so that is Monday(I also watch Two and a Half Men that night too).

Tuesday: Americal Idol and Biggest Loser

Biggest Loser I like the cousins, they work hard! And I really hope that Darius can take it. I like him! SO super glad that Lance and his crazy wife are gone. That lady drove me absolutely mental. I wanted to fight her everytime she was on the TV. For American Idol i'm routing for Crystal Bowersox or Siobhan. I don't think anyone can sing better than those two.

Wednesday: America's Next Top Model (and Cougar Town and Modern Family) --Two hilarious shows! Anyways Amercia's Next Top Model i'm going for Raina. She takes awesome pictures! Anyone eles watch it last night? What the heck was Tyra wearing? Some sick colouredbodysuit? She looked terrible!

Thursday: SURVIVOR (Greys' Anatomy and Private Practice)
So i'mtotally rooting for RUSSEL! He is awesome! Rob bothers me, Hopefully Russell can pull something off for next week! I also like Colby, but he doesn't seem as into it this year!

Usually take Friday and Saturday night off (with the exception of some movies)

SUNDAY: Amazing Race
Go Cowboys Go!!!

Sick and Tierd of being Sick and Tierd!

So it is the strangest thing, When Ethan wakes up he usually is in a good mood for about two hours and then he starts to lose it and all i can think about is getting him into bed for a nap and some ME time. But then he falls asleep for an hour and a half and I find myself missing him, bored and wanting him to wake up.

It is a blizzard again today, which I don't mind at all, just means I can't go for a walk (which is good and bad). I've been completely exhausted and sick lately, not so much that I can't do anything just enough that it puts a small damper on my day! So I guess the weather describes my sickness. If it was sunny out today I would be FORCED to be actaive and sunshiney bright!

On Sunday I went grocery shopping and it ended up being $250 for a week? Doesn't that seem like a HUGE amount for two people and a mini man? How much should weekly groceries cost for a family our size? On the plus side of the expensive groceries, if you spend more than $200 dollars at Superstore you get something for free, so this week was a giant Spiral Ham. So that is nestled nicely in our fridge, it will feed an army, not sure when i'm going to cook that!

I am a Wheel of Fortune junkie, I watch everynight while i'm feeding Ethan to sleep, last night they had a prize of a vacation to the Turks and Caicos, it looked gorgeous and it is different than all of the regular hot spots. So I have decided that Kelly and I will go there for our honeymoon. Unfortunately it can't be for at least a year and half, we need to save. I'm still very exciting. I'm craving a vacation!

Well little buddy is up, fruffling in his crib!

Hissssss

So i've come to the realization that I am not as good as I thought I would be with writing blogs. I thought it would be alot easier to come on everyday and write about my day.... Oh well I will keep trying.

So on the news last week a man in Calgary was cleaning under his TV stand and when he moved the TV stand there was a SNAKE... like a yucky orange poisonous one. It wasn't his, it had been a neighbors and somehow gotten into his place. So that got me thinking, last summer one day Kelly looked out and turned around and said "DON'T Look outside". Not thinking that there was going to be a freaking SNAKE outside I looked and on one of the trees twisted all around a little tree was like a freaking python (well I don't know the exact type) but it was like 7 feet long and like thicker than my upper arm at it its thikest (which is pretty big.. i have muscle arms..hehe). There was a group of people around it just chilling out. WHAT THE HELL? What kind of crazy people are living in my building, or were they just visitors who brought their disgusting pet snake for a visit? SERIOUSLY, who does that? And who has a pet freaking snake.... SICK SICK SICK.

So since that day I've convinced myself that the owners of that hunk of reptile lived in the condo next door and it has always freaked me out that it could get in. It is weird so many people in Alberta have snakes for pets, I don't get it? They aren't cuddles, they are gross little mutants that slither around... I can't wait to get outta this place so my mind will be at peace that there will not be a gross snake attempting to break into my house.

Anyways in other news we went to check out this little town called Wabamun yesterday, it was a teeny tiny little town but quite cute, there is a huge mill of some sort and the train goes RIGHT though town. But it is right on a SWIMMABLE lake... kind of unheard of in this part of Alberta (Granted there was a sign up saying that the lake does get the itch so it is doubtful that I would siwm in there). We took a bunch of pictures and I realized how fun it is to explore all the little places around here. SO we are planning another adventure for next week!

I'm babysitting again today, Serioulsy, my life is so much easier with two little guys, they keep each other occupied for hours, when Ethan is alone he gets so bored and wants me to play with him, I've never had the house so clean as it is when I watch Nolan. I don't leave the house, but they both go down for two naps so I do a workout while they sleep! It snowed quite a bit over night last night,I thought about heading out to the swings this afternoon but that plan has been bamboozled!

Thursday, March 18, 2010

I wonder when Ethan will understand the word 'no'. I'm really good at saying it and in my opinion he understands me he is just really good at ignoring me. Life will be so much easier when he gets it, understands it and obeys!

Don't touch the toilet Ethan
Don't pull the cats hair Ethan
Don't hit the TV Ethan
Don't scream Ethan

I could probably go on and on, and there are things that are actaully ok in our house, it seems like i'm saying no a lot for no reason, And i know there are lots of people who don't believe in the word 'no', they believe you should just distract, well sorry i'm not one of those people, 'no' will be used in our house, and 'no' will soon be understood in our house.

So this morning at 6:30 Kelly woke up and put his barefeet in cat puke, disgusting yes, but HILARIOUS... OH YES.... the best part is that this is the second time this has happened to Kelly in the two years we have had Fabian! Pukey way to start the day!

It is a blizzard here, so much for the spring weather but I love the snow so I welcome it! I'm sick again today, I almost thought about chaning my flight form the 2nd of April to today so my mom could watch Ethan and I could sleep, but I can't take Ethan away from Kelly for that long.....

BUDGER!

Well this morning Ethan woke up bright and early, around 6:30 and I just let him fluff around in his crib and he fell back asleep!! YAHOOO... so we eventually woke up for good around 8:30. our new routine is to put a movie on in the morning (not a kids movie, a mommy movie). I have been recording all sorts of movies on our PVR... so this morning we watched "Catch and Release" (which really made me want to go to Boulder Colorado if anyone is every interested in a road trip).

Ethan went back to sleep at ten for TWO hours. Sometime I wonder if I should be worried about how much he sleeps. He goes to sleep at 7 wakes up at 8:30 or nine, heads back for a two hours morning nap and for another afternoon nap for an hour and a half.... He seems fine though and i'm not about to argue with sleep when I hear others talking about their child that doesn't sleep....

So while Ethan slept I made a banana bread (which chocolate chips for nutrition). I got my new Alberta Health card in the mail today (with the name Leslie Jane Rogers displayed on it). So I had to go get it laminated. WELL the copy centre at Staples was darn busy and I chose not to bring the stroller in, so I had Ethan in my arms, sweating (it was really hot in there) and then this grumpy looking lady comes and just STANDS in front of me. I didn't want to cause a ruckus so I didn't say anything, instead I inched closer to her to make my presense known, Ethan also helped me in this mission, screaming in his loudest voice. She knew I was there first, hag... anyways her husband, who was very nice finally realized we were an inche away from them and said "oh were you guys waiting'. ummm YAH think? NO we were just standing here for fun...

Anyways no big deal, sometimes things just really tick me off, So we headed over to Superstore for some pictures and groceries, While we were there I checked out the boy's clothes (of course) and I kind of had a small panic attack (well not to really but it got me thinking). I don't have any summer clothes for Ethan! The weather is getting nicer and all i have is long sleeve shirts and pants. I need to stock his drawers full of shorts, T-shirts and sandals... NOW my mission is to persaude Kelly that i'm going to need a little bit of money for this task!

It is very warm outside, 12 degrees, It is not sunny though, which I am happy about, sometimes the sun pisses me off, it means I have to be HAPPY and SUNsHINEY smiley... BARF, it's sunny every day here, that is a lot to ask!

The Weekend

I didn't make it on here all weekend, not because I was crazy busy, mostly because... ya ok don't really have an excuse. On Saturday I was supposed to teach a spin class at the gym, unfortunately on Saturday I woke up sick again, so I cancelled that. We had another baby birthday. This time Sabriel turned one, it was very cute we had a great time. Ethan has a new sound (more of a screeeeetch) so he was screaming the entire birthday party. Kelly came with us. All of the baby daddy's were there, it was nice for them all to meet and for Kelly to see who I hang out with on a daily basis! Pretty much that was it for Saturday, I fell asleep at 7:00. Kelly stayed up and watch a movie, I was too tierd to do anything!

On Sunday we had another condo showing, so we wooke up and did a major clean. Ethan and I went to Virginia's to pick her up and headed to Once Upon a Child, surprisingly and sadly we didn't get a thing. Virginia did very well though. I will have to try the south side one. Ethan's clothing stock is depleteting quickly! It was a BEAUTIFUL day on Sunday so we went for a big walk and made dinner.

The Celebrity Apprentice was on last night, There was nothing eles on so I watched it, It was good. I'm rooting for Curtis Stone! The women's team was just a little bit too annoying for me. And of course last night was the Amazing Race so I watched that as well. (I am rooting for the cowboys in this one).

Now it is today, Ethan didn't wake up until 9, can't tell you why but i'm not complaining, it is another beautiful day out so we are going to go for a walk in the sunshine and I'm heading to work at four. Another exciting day in the lives of the Quilter/Roger family.

Operation get fit has taken a small slwo down, I just did a home work out in front of HOW to Lose a Guy in 10 Days... I would say fairly successful, food wise though, the chocolate chip cookies and those damn mini eggs are just calling my name every second of every day, trying soo very hard to resist temptation.

I cant WAIT to get back to the island for a visit with my parents, they just got back from Mexico, (SO LUCKY). Two and a half more weeks I guess and Ethan and I will be flying back for Easter, leaving Kelly here to fend for himself!

Friday, March 12, 2010

I've always wondered how hard it would be to be scik and have a baby. Well today, for the first time in a long time I woke up with a migraine. I was crossing my fingers that Ethhan would figure this out and sleep in just a little later than normal, but no, up and adam at 7!

I had to go to our condo management company to get some documents for the sale of our place, driving made me so nausous that i had to pull over and puke out the door, i'm sure that the cars passing by saw way more than they wanted to see. Right now I wish that my parents were around so I could hand my little man off to them and go to bed! Kelly isn't home until 4 and then I have to work, and usually I would just call in sick but they have left me in charge... I will have to tough it out!

At least Ethan is happy today, he's keeping himself occupied which I am so thankful for, I can hardly move!

Crash, Bang, FREAKOUT...

ohh today....

Lets start at the very early hour Ethan woke up today, 6:30, since my no waking up before 8 rule is completely out of the picture I let him crash around in his crib until 7, then I went and retrieved my very awake boy.

We had a pretty low-key morning, watch Biggest Loser, had a nap, vaccuumed the house, then in was time for groceries. I usually LOVE getting groceries, wandering up and down each isle looking to be inspired for meal ideas. Today however was different, i only had a short time frame, We needed to be back for lunch or Ethan would lose it. So off we went, Ethan has really discovered his voice, he likes to scream (not scream because he's crying) but scream because it is fun... not to mention incredibily loud and annoying, so as I crashed around Superstore, Ethan was scream in his top lungs, just for fun!

We unload all the groceries into the car and head home. Well we had to park in the underground parking (becuase our realtor has our outside key). So I LUG Ethan in one arm and three extremely heavy bags in the other, no circulation in the hand with the bags, i'm sweating and we make to the condo and I plan to jus tplunk Ethan in his highchair and head back down for the rest of the stuff, so I put him in the highchair and give him some goldfish crackers, while he was eating them and before I decided to go back to the car I had a vision of Ethan choking on the crackers while I was gone. So I take him out of the highchair and we head back down to the car for the rest of grocieries (I might note that we pass two very capable men on our way back up who did NOT offer to help). So men, if you see a woman struggling with groceries and a baby, offer to help!

SO finally, unpack all the groceries, check the messages. Our realtor has called and said we have someone who wants to make an offer on our place (the offer depends on who our management company is). So I called her back and let her know our managment company, and OF COURSE it was the ONE company the buyer didn't want, so NO offer. I do agree though, the managment company here SUCKS!

I continue on, making Ethan and myself lunch. Last night I went to a movie and left Kelly and Ethan to fend for themselves and apparently there was NOTHING for the baby or Kelly to eat, so i figured since i'm not working and technically am a house wife (granted i'm not very good at it). I decide I'm going to make muffins, cookies, meatballs and chilli so we will never be without food! So as i'm trying to get the darn muffin pan out of our very small and crammed stove drawer I drop about four pans, it makes a huge noise and Ethan starts crying, oh dear i'm sweating again. How is all this so stressful, isn't this all supposed to be easy...... Very quickly realizing that I wasn't cut out to be domesticated.

Now that i've taken a small break, sat on the couch, enjoyed a few mini eggs, pat the cat and given Ethan a cuddle i'm ready again to tackle our three foot by three foot kitchen and begin cooking.....

Home is where the Heart is!

Everynight before Kelly and I go to sleep we sneak into Ethan's room, stand beside his crib and watch him sleep for a few minutes. It seems like such a little thing but when I stand there and look at our little creation it makes me smile, he is such a character, even when he sleeps, he has his body in the strangest position, he hates blankets so we always cover him up. He has all of his toys and blankets thrown all over the crib from when he plays before he falls asleep. He looks so peaceful and incredibly adorable.

I always complain about our little condo but it will be so strange to move out of here, this was Ethan's first home, a small one but still a home. It will be wonderful to move into somewhere that is more appropriate for Ethan but still very bittersweet to leave. We spent so long getting Ethan's little room in our condo all set for his arrival, and although it is small we have really made it work for us!

I was talking to a friend last night about how much I love Alberta (a year and a half ago you would never hear me say those words). And although Alberta (or the part we live in) isn't that pleasing to the eyes, or the fact that it is either freezing cold or WAY too hot, with very few places to swim. I think it is the friends and the memories that we have made here that make Stony Plain (and soon to be Spruce Grove) home! At this point in my life, given the chance to move back to the island, I wouldn't. I know Kelly would disagree, he is still obsessed with BC. Don't get me wrong, i love BC, i grew up there and all of my family are there. But now when I go visit, it is just a visit, and I am alwayss happy to get home! Besides it rains WAY too much in BC......

Little Steps

Today Ethan took his first steps, well he was pushing the walker but this was the first time he has done this by himself. He walks himself all along the couch and the tables but this time he pulled himself up onto his walker and walked across the living room. It was so cute! He has the cubbiest little legs and feet I can't quite believe they can hold his weight! I am hoping that he is walking on his own for his first birthday!

Claire and I took Ethan to the mall today hoping to find some good things! There was nothing, we left with nothing, well Cliare bought a 5 dollar belt and that is it, right now all of the summer stuff is out and well quite frankly if I saw someone wearing shorts or dresses now in the freezing cold weather I'm pretty sure I would laugh at them. So we wandered around, i got a bubble tea then we headed home!

Claire and Jake just left so Ethan and I are going to clean the house and i'm going to head to the gym tonight!

Ethan is growing up WAY too quickly, right now he is going through my wallet and has pulled out my mastercard (It is like he knows it's the best and most powerful card in the wallet).

Gym Date

Today Kelly and I got to go to the gym together (just like old times)! Aunty Claire and Jake babysat the boy! We had a great workout! To me that is the best date anyone could ask for, it was really fun! We drove by our new house, Kelly got out and had a snoop around. It is a beautiful day out.

Ethan woke up at 6:30 this morning for some reason, and since our place is so small he also woke up Claire and Jake (who were sleeping in the living room) and Kelly. So after he had some breakfast Kel took him for a good walk while the rest of us went back to sleep....

Lately our little family has been so busy! Yesterday we met Claire and Jake at Ikea. Jake just bought a new place so he was 'getting inspired'. Ethan and I scooted directly to kids section and played on the slide while we waited for everyone to catch up. By the time we got home we were EXHAUSTED! We watched a little bit of TV and were done!

Today we are off to an open house for some friends who just bought a new house, then we are having a bbq! I'd like to say the first of the season!

I bought some beautiful daffodils, flowers totally brighten up the house, and the smell awesome!

Aunty Claire

Last night our realtor called us to let us know we had a showing today at 1. Of course our house is so small it is really tough to keep clean. So Kelly and I took two hours and did a major clean, Ethan was asleep so we couldn't vaccuum, but we have all morning. After cleaning Kelly decided that he was going to study so I decided to go to the gym. Then we watched 'Yes Man'. I liked it!

Ethan woke up at the crack of dawn today (7:15) and since he is such a noisy boy when he wakes up Kelly and I decided to get up together, when we walked in he was standing there waiting for us (that never gets old for me). So now we have three hours to get this place in tip top shape and hope that Fabian is a good cat while we are gone.

Aunty Claire and Jake are in town today for two days. We are very excited to have visitors. It doesn't happen to much, not too many people seem to enjoy coming to Edmonton. I couldn't tell you why. And this time i'm serious, I actaully like this place. Yesterday it was 11 degrees! 11 DEGREES! WOW!!

I drove by our house last night, we have a ROOF, I love the progress, so now we actaully have a house.I think tonight we might go and trek inside (which is highly illegal) but then I can get a real feel for all the new furniture we are going to need :)

Alrighty, off for a family run!

Recent Discovery

Recently Kelly and I have discoverd the magic of a PVR. Telus called us one night and conned (well not conned it actaully lowered out bill) us into getting a PVR for our TV. Man oh man, we didn't know what we were missing before, you can record all of your shows and watch them later AND fast forward the commericals! You can pause, get a snack, come back, just like a movie. So Since Kelly has been at school and our house is so small, he has to study in the evening (when i'm usually watching hours and hours of TV). So I go to the gym, pvr all of my shows and watch them the next morning. I tell ya, it is the greatest thing EVER! I've even gone ahead a few weeks and recoreded all of the good movies (Becuase another benefit for signing up is that we get a month free of all of the movie channels) so I think i've recorded every chick flick and will never be without a good movie to watch. No more movie stores for us (which is good becuase we have a late charge which I never intend on paying )!

Till Debt do us Part

Kelly's favorite show on the TV. 'Til Debt Do us Part'. This lady goes into a couples home and helps them break out of debt using the 'jar system'. The jar system is just as its name suggest, numerous jars for different aspects of life (ie Entertainment, gifts, groceries etc). Kelly waits and waits and waits for this show to come on, and I have now just discovered that on weekends they have a marathon of the darn show. Kelly even bought the darn book. So Kelly has been asking me for months to try out this jar system and I have always bamboozled him saying that it will never work for me... things come up and I need to have the money for all emergency purchases! Well today I went online and checked my mastercard balance. YIKES! While they all legitimate and smart purchases I'm still a little worried about Kelly's reaction..... Don't get me wrong it is not a huge astronmical amount but I assure you it is enough to get that vien on Kelly's forehead to pop out!

So today instead of heading to Chapters to buy a photo album and then heading to Once Upon a Child to see what is new, I have regretfully have made the choice to stay home and clean the entire house (in attempts to butter Kelly up and put him in a good mood). So far I've vaccuumed, washed the dishes, sent a few emails and am now writing this blog. I'd say things are going well. One thing I have in my favour is the sun! No one can be mad when it is sunny right?

Luckily tonight I'm going to work (yes that is right i'm heading out to work a shift at the gym, to really bring home the bacon). He can't say I'm not trying! So far I've done one day of babysitting (which went incredibly well and we are excited to do it again) and one shift at the gym, tonight will be my second. If I could find a way to bring home some more money I definately would.

Operation Lose Weight

Today is the day, MARCH 1st, the day my diet begins! Yes I know I say this all the time but this time forsure. I've done it before and I'm going to do it again. Right before I got pregnant with Ethan I had lost 20 pounds by eating properly (VERY STRICT) and exercising daily. Well since Ethan was born I've been trying to figure out a system to make this work. The Edmonton weather, Kelly being away and eating on the run has made my weight loss take a small hiatas. Now i'm not making excuses it has just taken me awhile to adjust to my new lifestyle of not being able to go to the gym whenever I want for as long as I want. Now that Kelly is home for two months going to school so I think I can do this!

My Goal is to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight: 125 pounds. That means I need to lose 15 pounds, perferably in a month and a half (only because well a: I'm going home for Easter and b: everyone says it takes about a year to lose your pregnancy weight). So since i've done this before this should be easy right? Well I am happy to report that on Day 1 of "Operation Lose Weight" I have already been for two runs and will hopefully be going to the gym shortly.

The weather is cooperating with me and I should be able to run outside (because running circles around the indoor track makes me slightly ill). I"m keeping a journal, I will be eating 1500 calories a day of healthy and nutritious foods, drinking 8 glasses of water per day (which is so much harder than I thought). I have got my marathon training schedule out again, I think running is the best way for me to lose weight. I do not intend on running the half marathon at the end of training. That proved to be miserable last time! I think i'm more of a recreational runner.

So here I go, I can do this!
