The Christmas Spirit

Yesterday was kind of a snowy, yucky day so I decided that we would spend the day inside and relax. So we did, and (much to my surpise) it actaully was relaxing. We all had naps in the afternoon and I got alot accomplished. I figured that we would head out into the world on Sunday. When I woke up today it was snowing again. Dang, I don't like to take Molly out in this weather, she kind of slips around. Anyways around 10:30 Ethan was getting extremely restless and I decided I was going to risk the slippery roads and get the heck out of the house.
I didn't really know where we were going but somehow we ended up at Canadian Tire. What a great day to go there! They were having some sort of Mega sale on all of their Christmas stuff. When I saw this I decided that I was going to put our Christmas decorations up. Our family tradition is to cut down our own tree, but it is unlikely that i"m going to trudge out into the snow with the two boys, alone and cut down a tree. SO I thought I would put my $5 garage sale tree up as a fill-in tree until my parents, sister and Kelly get home.
So we went up and down every lane of Canadia Tire, by the time we were done My cart was overfilling and I was carrying Wyatt's carseat in my arm. I bought some decorations, lights and a few presents. (Don't be alarmed Kelly, I didn't spend too much). I paid for my things and a very nice employee (i'd say a highschool aged boy) helped me out to the car. I was expecting him to just turn around and head back into the store, but he helped me load the car and then said "Have a Merry Christmas". What a nice young man. I sure hope my children are that polite. SO I was really in the Christmas mood, we headed home.
Pulled into the garage and started unloading. I always do Ethan first, otherwise he just sits in the car and screams. So he was out and usually he heads over to check out the wagon, today instead he chose to wait in the laundry room. So I head back out for a load, just as I turn around to head back in Ethan is on his way down the two steps into the garge. Then he falls, oh great. It didn't look too tragic, but then he got up and was gushing blood. Oh dear.... So we head inside and I try to get all the blood out of his mouth to assess the damage. I was terrified we had lost teeth. It was bleeding so much, Ethan's hands were in his mouth, he was screaming and there was blood everywhere (including the walls). Looked more like a crime scene. Anyways, the result.. he has a very fat lip and a large cut. He got over it quickly for what it was.
We did lunch, Ethan didn't eat much because of his mouth, and then headed off to a nap and I got to decorating. I turned on the Christmas music (Sharon, Lois and Bram which we have been listening to on Repeat since November... it is Ethan's favorite). I went downstairs and pulled out all of our Christmas stuff, I started with the tree, I mean for five dollar it is a great tree, but in reality it is a piece of junk. It is so unstable, the top curves and it has huge spaces between bows, but whatever it will do the trick until we get the new one. I did the garland next for the mantle. I SHOULD have checked the lights to see if they worked first but I didn't. So I wrapped the lights around the garland and plugged them in. No lights. So I took the lights off, pushed all the little bulbs in and plugged them in. They worked! Yeah, so I wrapped it around the garland again and plugged them in. NOT WORKING.... getting ready to give up. Now if I was smart I would have plugged the lights in, made sure they worked, left them on and then wrapped them around the garland. It took me three tries to realize that I should do that.... woops.
I'm still not quite finished my decorating, it is like the never ending project, but now it is bath time for everyone and then The Amazing Race so I will work on it a little later.

Mini Pointsettas, I want to go buy more, they are so cute... but that is far too much work.
The best picture I could get of Ethan's injury. He has a huge fat lip somewhere under the Kraft dinner and carrots.

Ummmm, Mom... I'm Hungry...

Wyatt. It is hard to get a picture of his bright blue eyes, but they are there!

Our new festive door mat, It is upside down, I know, but I wasn't going to go outside in the cold to take the picture.

The Charlie Brown tree on the front porch.

Front Entrance table. (Mom this is the tree that lights up, but there is no plug here, I really thought there was).

Decoration on the mantle. I didn't hang the stockings, I don't want to be the one to drill (well I wouldn't use a drill) holes in the wood....

Our tree, it definately leans to one side and the chances of it falling over are very high....
